If the Independents ran against the Democrats we'd win. If the Independents ran against the Republicans we'd win. And the Democrats are getting so watered down that they'll go out of business first because they have no beliefs anymore. You would? Then why didnt Independents win in 2008? 2008 Independent Presidential Candidates Stephen P. "Steve" Adams Donald K. Allen Blake Ashby Terry "Tee" Barkdull John Taylor Bowles Clark B. What happened? Couldnt your golden haired children pull in the votes you claim you can get? I find it humourous how a candidate declares themselves "independent" and certain people will bend over, grip both cheeks, and.. relax that sphincter. http://www.politics1.com/p2012.htm Here is a long list of people who are running for office this year and under what party. And not a single one of them running for President has a snow balls chance of hell outside of the two major parties. And, fence sitters.... ugh... they sit on fences, typically the corner post.. I often thought that much hurt having that shoved up their butt as they spin back and forth, watching the elections while blathering about what they believe the issues are, pointing fingers at others and laughing about how stupid the other party members are, all the while hiding behind their own inane positions before they rise from the post, trudge off towards the voting poll, pull the curtain and make their "x". Although the number of self-identified independents has fallen slightly in the 1990s and 2000s, about 30 percent of American voters still say they are independents (as measured by self-identification). quote:
Approximately 22% of registered voters in the United States are registered as Independents. http://www.usaindependenceparty.com/register-independent---vote-independent/ quote:
Turnout The voter turnout for this election was broadly predicted to be high by American standards, and a record number of votes were cast. The final tally of total votes counted was 131.3 million, compared to 122.3 million in 2004 (which also boasted the highest record since 1968, after which the voting age was lowered to 18). Expressed as a percentage of eligible voters, 131.2 million votes could reflect a turnout as high as 63.0% of eligible voters, which would be the highest since 1960. This 63.0% turnout rate is based on an estimated eligible voter population of 208,323,000. Another estimate puts the eligible voter population at 212,720,027, resulting in a turnout rate of 61.7%, which would be the highest turnout rate since 1968. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2008#Result Why is that important? Check out the Result section. Independents Nader gained only 0.56% of the voter turnout. Out of a record setting (since 1960 - - - JFK, not surprising), the Independent candidates only obtained ( if you add all the votes outside of the two major parties) * drum roll please!!* A whopping 1.42% of the vote. 2004, 0.99% 2000 3.74% What was that pops? Independents could beat either party? Historically, thats a huge fallacy. Perhaps Independents arent as smart as they believed themselves to be. Perhaps they are more stupid than the Democrats or Republicans together. I do find that hard to believe, because I know some very intelligent Independents. I also know those same independents laugh at the comments I make from your very own posts, pops. Im not calling you stupid.... just sayin....
