Politesub53 -> RE: Remember when Obama said....... (2/7/2012 3:45:09 PM)

quote:

Obama was responding to specific questions about the Troubled Asset Relief Program and whether its economic benefits would merit the costs, then estimated at $700 billion.

“At some point will you say, ‘Wait a minute, we’ve spent this amount of money. We’re not seeing the results. We’ve got to change course dramatically?’” Lauer asked Obama.

“Look, I’m at the start of my administration. One nice thing about the situation I find myself in is that I will be held accountable. You know, I’ve got four years. And, you know, a year from now I think people are going to see that we’re starting to make some progress,” Obama said. “But there’s still going to be some pain out there. If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”

How easy it is to take a quote out of context.

I thought this might be a fun thread to keep going in here up 'till the elections in November.

Remember when Obama said; "Let it be said that from this day forward sea levels will be going down!"
Anyone got a ruler?
Now doesn't that sound like something JFK might say, the structure and all that?
This is fun because he's always talking and he must like to put his foot in his mouth and we'll have plenty of ammunition.! lol

Well, not being a particular fan of the present Administration I have to say...

Sea levels go down daily.....and then they rise, go down, then rise.....

"From this day forward."
Gee, I wonder who he stole that phrase from?

He paraphrases A LOT like when he refers to GOP Candidates as having something worth considering.

Ummmm this is just a wild guess... but I'm gonna go with "the originators of the english language" and they probably stole it from latin cause it's in a lot of really old shit the Romans had written down.

I wish I could locate the article where they brought that up about six months ago in an interview with Joe Biden, where he was asked about it and biden said something to the effect of "He was making a projection of the kind of hay the republicans would make of his economic progress" I am paraphrasing fro what I remember vaguely ... hardly the laser focused 'visions' Popeye is having.

Pops ... take two less buttons next time.

Skip-Meister, I'm an Independent, I couldn't care less about either of the two BIG BOX parties.
Being Independent doesn't mean that I'm going to "side" with the Democrats half of the time or any of the time. I don't know where you guys got that shit. Does it say in the Democrat manifesto that,...."Independents should be fair to the Democratic party?" And WTF are you guys doing even remotely ASSOCIATING with the...."Left" for? That's political suicide! And you wonder why I think that Democrats are *fucking stupid?*
I hammer the Dems, Liberals and Lefties because they're the more disgusting of the two parties and it just too easy.
Oh sure, get the "REVERANDS" Jackson and Wright and Al Sharpton on the stump for Pantload! Oh, yeah, that'll do it! "V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!!!"
And WTF is this shit about some Dems walking around saying;..."I'm OFFENDED!" Are they on the DNC payroll or something?
The Donkey Party? They should have a big picture of an *anus squeezed to the max,* that'd make all the many Anal-Retentives in that party happy!
"Are you getting excited over this new foreign aid bill?"
"Yup, I'm puckering!"
The Democrat party of my parents isn't even *remotely fucking related* to this pos "party" today!
You guys really should *re-name* the Democrat party as it's no longer.....I don't even know what it is anymore!
Even JFK would say, "What the FUCK "party" is this!" "Communists? Leftists, Marxists?" "Sympathizing with the enemy?"
When someone says that they're a "Democrat" it doesn't even mean anything anymore!
I hope this clears it up for you.

tazzygirl -> RE: Remember when Obama said....... (2/8/2012 12:49:04 PM)

So, since I am a democrat, are you saying I am "fucking stupid"?

Because, when you are done, I am liable to tell you exactly what I think of fence sitters.

mnottertail -> RE: Remember when Obama said....... (2/8/2012 12:49:18 PM)

Doubtless the couch commandos will be a driving force this election, for the first time.

LOL.

You know,.....now that you mention it......
Where does it say that there are "only" two political sides? "Fence sitter" implies that one is making up their mind between the Dems and Repubs, does it not?
Why do you think there's only "two" different political viewpoints in this country? I mean there has to be a manifesto that tells you guys that, right? Where do you come up with that kind of thinking?
"Yes, you may tell people that the Democrat Party is for the downtrodden. But,....just don't tell them that we are for the downtrodden overseas and not in the U.S." "That could be problematic."
If the Independents ran against the Democrats we'd win.
If the Independents ran against the Republicans we'd win.
And the Democrats are getting so watered down that they'll go out of business first because they have no beliefs anymore.

mnottertail -> RE: Remember when Obama said....... (2/8/2012 1:07:06 PM)

According to that tour de force, there are no independents, they aint running and they aint winning shit, nowhere on the planet.

That was the chimp's manifesto and thinking, remember?
"If'n you ain't wit' me, you're agin me."
That was how he pissed away all of the goodwill that the al queda demolition programme in New York generated for him.

http://www.mapsofworld.com/2008-usa-presidential-election/2008-independent-presidential-candidates/

You certainly had candidates then. What happened? Couldnt your golden haired children pull in the votes you claim you can get?

I find it humourous how a candidate declares themselves "independent" and certain people will bend over, grip both cheeks, and.. relax that sphincter.

http://www.politics1.com/p2012.htm

Here is a long list of people who are running for office this year and under what party.

And not a single one of them running for President has a snow balls chance of hell outside of the two major parties.

And, fence sitters.... ugh... they sit on fences, typically the corner post.. I often thought that much hurt having that shoved up their butt as they spin back and forth, watching the elections while blathering about what they believe the issues are, pointing fingers at others and laughing about how stupid the other party members are, all the while hiding behind their own inane positions before they rise from the post, trudge off towards the voting poll, pull the curtain and make their "x".

Although the number of self-identified independents has fallen slightly in the 1990s and 2000s, about 30 percent of American voters still say they are independents (as measured by self-identification).

quote:

Approximately 22% of registered voters in the United States are registered as Independents.

http://www.usaindependenceparty.com/register-independent---vote-independent/

quote:

Turnout
The voter turnout for this election was broadly predicted to be high by American standards, and a record number of votes were cast. The final tally of total votes counted was 131.3 million, compared to 122.3 million in 2004 (which also boasted the highest record since 1968, after which the voting age was lowered to 18). Expressed as a percentage of eligible voters, 131.2 million votes could reflect a turnout as high as 63.0% of eligible voters, which would be the highest since 1960. This 63.0% turnout rate is based on an estimated eligible voter population of 208,323,000. Another estimate puts the eligible voter population at 212,720,027, resulting in a turnout rate of 61.7%, which would be the highest turnout rate since 1968.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2008#Result

Why is that important? Check out the Result section. Independents Nader gained only 0.56% of the voter turnout.

Out of a record setting (since 1960 - - - JFK, not surprising), the Independent candidates only obtained ( if you add all the votes outside of the two major parties) * drum roll please!!*

A whopping 1.42% of the vote.

2004, 0.99%
2000 3.74%

What was that pops? Independents could beat either party? Historically, thats a huge fallacy. Perhaps Independents arent as smart as they believed themselves to be. Perhaps they are more stupid than the Democrats or Republicans together.

I do find that hard to believe, because I know some very intelligent Independents. I also know those same independents laugh at the comments I make from your very own posts, pops.

Im not calling you stupid.... just sayin....

Remember when President Obama said he'd cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term?

Peace and comfort,
