The wig is actually pretty consistent with all the parodies, where everyone's wearing a wig. And again, look at her other videos, she's only playing it up a little bit, she sounds pretty close to that ordinarily to my ear at least.. If there was a "Shit black girls say to white girls" parody, I would LOVE to see it!

When in my flower of yoot women would come up on the street and viciously want to scratch around in my very curly hair (the last vestiges of which are long gone). And I was (and still am) as white a cracker as ever lived on the face of the earth, and they was any shade of woman....

I actually see women with natural hair every day at the urban library that I manage and on the streets of the urban area in which I live. I have a sort of one myself. She didn't have to put on white face. She put on a blonde wig and a valley girl accent. That was every bit as stereotypical and ignorant. I don't care what she "parodies." It's her right. That doesn't make it funny or appropriate.............luci

Thanks for posting that. I thought it was hilarious and completely spot on. I've heard all those things and variations. I didn't sense it was coming from a place of anger or rage and certainly not racist. Just a little satire designed to make you think. Think before you open your big ole mouth and put your big ole foot in it and insult someone. We all say bonehead things on occasion. Some of the most clueless things are said when we think we're being all friendly and open minded. It's not just race but sex, class, region, gay or the physically challenged. I have a gay male friend who is out and proud who gets very annoyed at a female friend who always greets him by screaming girlfriend! When I went north to school with my southern accent I got a lot of bonehead things said to me. Once after introductions "You must be one of the more intelligent ones." "It's not what you said was dumb it's just you sound dumb with that accent." I was also asked all manner of questions based on every cultural stereotype of the south. I rarely took it as malicious just clueless. I don't that video was about being malicious or accusing others of being malicious. Just a rather gentle parody of people who do exist. And I don't think a black person putting on a blonde wig and using a accent that is generally associated with a white person is being racist. Not even in the same ballpark as the crude blackface idiocys of the past. I imagine videos of gay people parroting some of the inane things straight people say to them would be equally illuminating and hilarious.

I have a question: How come this caused such a firestorm as being racist, when the original didn't get anywhere close to the same reaction as being sexist? I feel like more women looked at the original video and smirked and said "That's kinda true" and took it in good humor. I think the difference here may be that they can live with those barbs, but with this video they feel like they are accused of being racist. That's not true. I think people are hurt and angry when people who don't know them make such an accusation, and just the possibility of the possibility that they are being called racist can get a rise out of people.

I stick by my morons are everywhere comment :) Soon there will be, what politicians say what lefties say what righties say what gays say what lesbians say what catholics say what atheists say What morons say(oops samething) The possibilities are endless, but just because you can, doesnt mean you should. except in the whacko pool that is the interwebs. I didn't think the first one was sexist or the second one racist. Why the difference in the reactions? Well, the first might have gone down easier because men dressing like women and parodying them goes back to ancient times. We're use to it. And drag queens have mainstreamed it. But I doubt very many were screaming that guy hates women. Women are also likely to have been teased by men in their lives about some of those things and heard comedians joke along those lines. Race is a touchy topic. I think maybe in some cases the second video may have struck a nerve because I find it very hard to believe most people haven't heard someone say at least one of those things in that video. Or in some cases said it or thought it themselves. I guess the upside is people don't want to be racist or thought of as racist. When the defenses come up it's good to examine why but it's challenging at the same time. I think videos like that are great for starting dialogues between people. The young womans background gives her insight I would think. I think a what black girls say to white girls video would be interesting to. No need to run to the barricades.

Also, some white people don't know any black people socially or intimately. They've never had a private conversation with a person of another race. So, maybe that's part of the knee jerk reaction that she's being mean. I think when you're use to more of a mish mash you know how common that shit is. And you become more aware of and sensitive to it when you see how it effects people you know and care about.

I thought the first vid was funny, even tho i am not current with all the cool terminology younger people use, I thought the blonde wig made it funny too.. I thought the second vid,.. it was funny i guess but not as funny a the first one.. The guy in the wig, was he being sexist or just trying to channel Juliette Lewis???? hmmm I am white and know things are easier for me than for black people, hispanics, etc.. there are stereotypes, there is racism, there is unawareness.. there is sexism.. I really dont see the point to nit pick stuff apart and analyze every word or phrase looking for those things to be extremely critical & preachy (as happens on the forums at times).. humor is sometimes a better way to point these things out.. Imo, she did the vid to be funny and show some people how ridiculous things that are said can be.. Doing anything like that, will get a wide variety of reactions.. mine is that..
