ORIGINAL: Clickofheels I forgot all about the road signs that inform drivers they are entering an area where Amish buggies are prevalent. And usually there are quite a few of them before entering a settlement area, as you are driving through, and even after you leave. I still think what happened in Kentucky is an isolated case. But as I said, I always enjoy finding out just how educated people are about the Amish. (Smiles) Respectfully, Ms Click I do know that there are rules that even this sect must adhere too. These road rules are not only for the safety of the public, but also for the safety of those in the buggies as well as the horses. As far as too fast for conditions... there is also a minimum speed limit on many highways they use to travel on. quote:
These horse and buggies tend to travel at an average speed of 5 to 8 miles per hours. Most have minimums, that I have seen, of between 25 and 40 miles an hour. Coming up on someone, in the dusk, moving at 8 miles an hour, its going to be a fast approach. Add a curve or bend, and its a recipe for disaster.
