It just goes to show the arrogance of some people when they gain power. They get to a point where they don't believe the rules of 'regular folk' apply to them.

I find it funny as hell. Why she believed he would treat her any different as his wife than the first is beyond me.

Poor Newt was on TV this morning talking about how the daughters had contacted the network about not airing this.

In her most provocative comments, the ex-Mrs. Gingrich said Newt sought an "open marriage" arrangement so he could have a mistress and a wife.

She said when Gingrich admitted to a six-year affair with a Congressional aide, he asked her if she would share him with the other woman, Callista, who is now married to Gingrich.

"And I just stared at him and he said, 'Callista doesn't care what I do,'" Marianne Gingrich told ABC News. "He wanted an open marriage and I refused."

Marianne described her "shock" at Gingrich's behavior, including how she says she learned he conducted his affair with Callista "in my bedroom in our apartment in Washington."

"He always called me at night," she recalled, "and always ended with 'I love you.' Well, she was listening."

All this happened, she said, during the same time Gingrich condemned President Bill Clinton for his lack of moral leadership.

She said Newt moved for the divorce just months after she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, with her then-husband present.

"He also was advised by the doctor when I was sitting there that I was not to be under stress. He knew," she said.

Gingrich divorced his first wife, Jackie, as she was being treated for cancer. His relationship with Marianne began while he was still married to Jackie but in divorce proceedings, Marianne said.

Oh, I'll just say it. What a fucking cunt.

Honestly...come on. I'm not a Newt fan at all, so I'm certainly not defending him. But jeez, don't we all have emotional fuck-ups in our lives? He's obviously of sound mind enough to have gotten as far as he has, I'm sure he's not ill-equipped to handle national politics and I would request that any president keep from fondling my morals, thank you very much. You keep your morals and I'll keep mine. Just point me to the where the jobs are at.

Jeez. I'm so friggin' irate lately with the media.

ETA - I know, it's hypocritical of him. I just feel that everyone (media, politicians, I mean - not forum posters) who will point out he's a hypocrite has surely been guilty of being a hypocrite at some point in their lives themselves. I think it just has no place in a campaign. There is so much emotion and other sides of the story and dang it - it's personal! I don't really care about it, but it gets shoved in my face when a scorned woman wants to take down her ex out of spite.

ETA again - And one more tiny rant. This is why we get the candidates we do. There are probably many people out there that would be better leaders than we ever have to choose from, but they could never do it because we as a nation expect them to be perfect. That's an awful lot to live up to, and knowing that you will likely get ripped a new one by the entire country once they start delving into your personal history? I give every one of those candidates serious props. That takes some balls, no matter what party you're in.

I wish all the Republicans would vote for Newt Gingrich. I want him to be the one to run against Obama because I know Obama would win.
