Yes, thats correct.

At Shippensburg University, getting access to Plan B, the emergency contraception pill is as easy as getting a soda. Students can now buy the pill at a vending machine on campus.

"We had some conversations with them and did a survey of the student body and we got an 85 percent response rate that the students supported Plan B in the House Center," said Dr. Roger Serr, Vice president of Student Affairs at Shippensburg.

The university does not profit from the sales. It pays $25 for one dose and that's exactly what the student has to pay.

Dr. Serr says that somewhere between 350 and 400 doses are sold each year to the female population. The pill can be legally sold over-the-counter to anyone 17 or older.

Plan B costs students 25 dollars, what the university pays to obtain it.
So the university doesn't make a profit, nor does it use state money or college money to support it.

In the past, the health center sold about 350 to 400 doses of Plan B to female students each year.

How long before the anti-abortion rallies are planned at the college?

Wow... I had no idea the morning after pill was OTC.

Hippiekinkster -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/6/2012 11:09:33 PM)

I like this. $25 a dose is unconscionable greed by the manufacturer, though.

Yes, behind the counter. I dont know how restricted the vending machine access is to visitors at that college.

Its 25 to 50 through most pharmacies.

I guess we know which school will top the lists for sluttiest college this year.

Nice to know that taking responsibility for one's sexual health is what constitutes being a slut these days.

"Taking responsibility for one's sexual health"?

Surely you jest. It is nothing of the kind. It's nothing more than an "oh shit" pill taken the morning after an unprotected sexual encounter. If the person using it were truly being "responsible," there'd have been condoms or regular birth control pills employed before the encounter.

Never heard of a condom breaking?

7.3% reportedly broke during application or use and 4.4% slipped off.

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 12:50:47 AM)

Except people also take the morning after pill also when the condom breaks...

Or when some miss a dose of their birth control..

Or after after a rape...

So.. Yeah its nice to know being responsible for ones sexual health is being slutty...

Pretty tiny percentages there. And those stats are supposed to... help your case? LoL

I believe I did call it an "oh shit" pill. "Oh shit" can mean a broken condom just as easily as no condom. You really didn't help your case at all.

Except the bolded parts kinda make that argument you just made nothing more then BS

Because your implying it was unprotected... not the few dozen other uses for it...

Hence the "oh shit" statement.

Or when some miss a dose of their birth control..

Again... "oh shit" I wasn't *responsible* enough to remember my regular birth control method, but want to fuck anyway.

Or after after a rape...

If a girl is raped, and all she does is go to a vending machine for a pill, she's got bigger issues than easy access to this pill.

Nope, it's just being slutty, not responsible. Thank you, though, for helping to illustrate that.

You can think that, but you'd be wrong.

Few dozen other uses? How many other uses could there be for an "emergency contraceptive?"

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 1:06:03 AM)

*snorts* Actually seeing as rape is still about the victim and seeing as 60% of rapes are unreported...

http://www.rainn.org/statistics

Its likely going to a vending machine, and or a pharmacy for the morning after pill is something a rape victim would likely do

Again you can back peddle your argument as you wish, the bolded parts in my previous post shows your true feelings.. Just because you were caught with facts to your opinion that make your opinion false...doesnt really change much...

He is just here to shit stir, SR.

Anyone who can make that statement obviously either hates women, or cant get one.

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 1:11:02 AM)

Well, I was given several doses of it to elevate my hormone levels when my vagina decided it wished to kill me...

It can be used as a temporary chemical castration of a male....Which i think for some males it would be completely useful and totally worth 25 bucks

It also can be used in substitute for some regular birth controls, like you know when those women found out their birth control was defective...

It can be used in the case of date rape,
in case of a broken condom...

Back pedal? That's a laugh. I've back pedaled nothing. All you've done is show more examples of irresponsibility and try to claim that my claim of irresponsibility is bogus. How funny.

The "facts" you claim I was "caught" with were stats lower than 10% (or 11% if you add broken condoms and slipped off condoms together)... which only supported *my* claims.

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 1:22:59 AM)

Your claim was it was only used for unprotected sex... Your claim of that is incorrect...

How about you try that chemical castration method.. you might find your able to offer a better argument...

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 1:29:36 AM)

Tazzy.. I think its a great idea, I think making it more available.... will be more helpful to all involved.. I doubt it will be placed with other vending machines... However possibly in student health...
