Any society claiming to be just.
And democratic.
Can wave their flag of religion.
But cannot have special privilige for the religion of the flag.
All should be equal under one banner weather it be Jew, Christian or Muslim, as well as all others such as polyhteists.

otherwise the country involved cannot be called tolerant.

zero tolerance is for nazis.

Absolutely no sarcasm intended but i need to tell you in the spirit of informing you of the nature of the exchanges on this Board my comment "Whatever else you hear is your problem, Michael, not mine." is probably one of the gentlest rebukes you will find here. I suggest you save it so you can look back to compare some of the scathing responses you will get to read. Oh, Darlin' this is not your college debating society. Don't let your momma have a peek at this Board, and do toughen your hide a bit.

Have fun,
vincent

Among all the posters in this section, vincent is probably the most straight forward and least sarcastic of the bunch of us. That doesnt mean he cant go there. He just usually will give a poster the benefit of a doubt before he does.

I can only echo what he said.... thick skin is required in this section. Its the nature of both politics and religion.

This.
People are at liberty to believe whatever they want (however ridiculous). They are not entitled to special treatment over their beliefs.

Excellent. In that case, would you please state precisely what claims about the universe made by Shaivism, Buddhism, and Taoism have been "thoroughly proven grossly wrong"? Please be specific with regard to Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrajana Buddhism if in your view their claims differ in this respect, and with regard to Shaivism please focus specifically on Trika.

The entire Hindu sheaf (including the Buddhist subsets) holds that reincarnation (in various forms) occurs. Like all other religions, they make metaphysical claims for which they have zero rigorous proof of ever happening. How many more thousands of years of their failures to present even one example of the physical world conforming to such assertions should it take for even marginally rational people to conclude that the claims were wrong? .. I dunno ...

The first studies of world religions I undertook (mandatory curricula) were forty-something years ago, and I recognized what they all have in common within a few months....

Thank you. I think that clarifies things rather nicely.

K.
