You know ... I keep seeing all these posts specific to this issue and there's a lot of guy posts, a fair amount of ladies posting.... But what I find myself wondering is... With regard to women...How does this really feel in their guts... They are way more than half the time time objects of his poison. And NOT JUST on these biggies either... I don't think I have ever heard an episode that've listened to (and I gotta admit... that fat half choking voice usually burns the whole experience out for me in pretty short order)... But even with that, I don't think I have ever gotten through a sitting with that guy's show where I didn't hear at least one shot at women.
I just can't see how a woman can see this as a one time thing at all. And I know I am probably just missing something here but this time, cause of the depth of the insult I just thought I would hear in a very loud way some kind of "enough is enough" chorus. Although the only time a woman ever completely wiped me out emotionally did so without ever raising her voice.
So maybe that's it?

I have had enough of him for years. I was once an avid listener... and that quickly lost his appeal as it became noticable how he was losing his mind. Long before the drug use became an excuse.

Sadly enough, and I so rarely say this about another human being... I see no redeeming qualities in the man at all. Frankly, I hate even calling him a man, because, to me, a man would never have said what he did... and IF he had, would not have offered a back handed apology.

Shades of Don Imus....

Yawn... I guess you should go take a shower now... Both of you.

I hate to say this but I have a feeling Republicans by and large can't even process something like this anymore... It's like they don't really register the importance of Romney standing up to the guy at all.

Well I hate to rain on your outrage, but I'm not a Republican and I don't register the importance of it either. Given the economic suffering of the country and the fact that we're lurching toward World War III in the Middle East, I can't think of anything I'm less interested in hearing a Presidential nominee talk about than the sexist blatherings of some radio host.

To be fair, if he's going to back down from addressing the bullshit somebody's spouting to his electorate, there's no way in Hell he's going to be up to doing anything about real issues, is there?

Kirata, we are looking for leadership here. Romney isn't showing any.

Back down from addressing? You guys need to look around. While everybody is piling on to whip him with this twig, I think some of y'all are missing the big stick. He said, and I quote, "it’s not the language I would have used." Think about it. What's that mean? It means he agrees with Limbaugh. He just would have, unh, expressed himself differently. Depending on your views, I would think some people might consider that to be more troubling than him tactfully declining to join the madding crowd in fanning the flames.

Rush already apologized, the critics are a day late, and about 400 million short.

I agree. It's too late.

In addition to advertisers pulling out, I'm sure Limbaugh was under severe pressure from the GOP machinery to make a public apology precisely because the GOP didn't want Romney to actually have to come out with a public statement on this issue.

I disagree, I think that if Romney had grown a big pair and called Rush on the carpet big time he would be showing a thing called leadership.
Super Tuesday balloting starts in about 32 hours. IMO, I think Mitt missed out on an opportunity to separate himself from the crowd and scoop up a shit pile of delegates.

I honestly feel that the GOP is not ready to abandon the religious right. For Romney to have defended her publicly would mean taking on the Catholic church. The GOP is not yet ready for that kind of secular stance.

When I was younger I assumed all women would be on the same side of "female" issues. But it is sadly not the case. There are many, many conservative American women who are anti almost everything that I believe in.

I consider myself a feminist - in the positive way that that word is meant. Many women do not care about their fellow sisters. They also do not care about other families and the children of others. They care about marrying a wealthy influential man and see themselves in competition with other women and other families for resources. And they will stop at nothing to take more than their fair share - even out of the mouths of other people's children if they have to. Nothing scares me more than a female Republican.

As registered Republican, this saddens me. I am so tired, so very tired, of seeing a party that I actually do think has a lot of good in it get so hijacked by the Religious Right. I am not a Christian, and never will be. So, to see all of bible-thumping religious zealotry coming out of the GOP in the past decade or so just drives me crazy. I know that the Religious Right has been there for decades, but I really blame the election of GW Bush for pushing them to the center platform. GHW Bush and Reagan had no problems admitting they were Christian, but they didn't feel the need to pull the evangelical crap every time they opened their mouths.

I don't care what religious tradition, if any, our president follows. I just want him to keep his mouth shut on it most of the time. Being a person of faith, whatever faith, does not mean you have to push it down everyone's throats at every opportunity.

Perhaps the better way to view this is whether the GOP have a pair....

I want to say something to you about your party and I hope you take it in the spirit it's offered. There is more wrong with the republican party than the religious right. They are now letting vulture capitalists jockey for ownership of the party. And what's really awful, is right in the middle, are a population (and they USED to the the majority in the party, but it's next to impossible to really tell now). And that middle are are a bunch of people that I feel middle of the road indies and democrats can work with compromise with, and get shit done.
But for that to happen, the middle needs to regain control. And since the there's such subterfuge (I mean these candidates are essentially a smoke-screen to distract from a bigger battle over party control. Hence nobody realistic is involved).
Anyway, that's my piece. Don't know if it helps us understand each other better. But it's now out there.

You're sure entitled to you're opinion K. And I don't see any clouds up here, so we're cool on the weather.
Question ... ya think you can make it snow in Gloucester sometime this week. There's these two really cool sleds I got the kids for Christmas and I think it would be really cool to be able to use em locally at least once this winter And we're only up to about 3.5 inches for the whole season[:D]

Hey man, I owe you a better answer than that. My thing is that since Limbaugh basically got in a gas war with Michael Steele a few years back and kinda sent the guy packing. He IS in a position of leadership. And he's taken it upon himself to be a messenger of how they supposedly feel and at times instructing them about how they need to wake up and feel about some issues. And to me, that makes him a LOT more than a talk show host. That coupled with the fact that this isn't his one incident, but rather a 20+ year pattern of the behavior exhibited... That it really kind of behooves the guy who wants to own the role of leading us as a country, should be able to come right out and say "Man, that was just ignorant. And you don't speak for any of us in the party" AT LEAST...
But he hasn't even got the guts to do that.
I hope your 'empty suit' beats this guy like a runaway sister wife given those dynamics.

MDomCouple, I have to say that ironically all of the young Republicans I know are in that party because of the Religious Right. Ironically, I know several who are disabled and don't look at the fact that the Republicans want to end the safety net that give these guys the means to live, they look only at the social issues. I could never understand how somebody on welfare or social security disability or SSI could vote Republican.

That's my point. If Romney had shown any leadership, he would denounced Rush's attack on a private citizen. Instead, he pretty much indicated that he agrees with the content of the message--contraceptives are used by sluts.

I can't speak for the individuals you know, so I won't even try to say what their reasons truly are. However, perhaps they are like me.

I have had people, many times, express how they can't understand why a gay man would vote Republican. After all, the GOP isn't exactly known for being strong advocates of gay rights. However, for me, the issue isn't that simple. I'm not a single-issue voter. And, while I disagree with the GOP on gay rights issues, I agree with them on other issues. There are times when people vote against their apparent self-interest because no matter how important one issue is to them, there may be a litany of other issues that serve to outweigh that.

Owner59 -> RE: Does Mitt Romney Have A Pair.... THIS is where we find out (3/5/2012 8:37:41 AM)

So what is so awful about democrat policy(s) that you would help and enable the GOP to not only throw the LGBT community under the bus......... but help the GOP to demonize the community?
