“I’ll just say this, which is, it’s not the language I would have used,” Romney said on Friday, while signing autographs after an event in Cleveland. “I’m focusing on the issues that I think are significant in the country today, and that’s why I’m here talking about jobs and Ohio.”

lol...Yes Democrats would love to make his response a campaign issue...it is not going to happen. His response is appropriate to his stance and exactly as I would have responded if I were a Republican candidate and agreed with his stance…which I don‘t.

Personally I think it ridiculous that political candidates of either party should ever bother to respond to, or be responsible for, talk radio nut cases.

I think when one of these talk radio nut cases has been a mouthpiece for a particular party for years on end, then the main parties have to respond.

Sometimes one has to respond to the nut cases, or it looks like you are giving tacit approval by your silence. And both parties are known for using the nut cases to further agenda.

Actually NO Butch. While I can't speak directly for democrats what I would love is to have morbid fucks cease entirely the practice of CREATING issues that people have to respond to out of thin fucking air.
And this is a regular practice of the pig known as El Rushbo.
To use his own word "just a junkie to me".

Since there was "make believe" built in for dramatic relevance, it was essentially a carefully staged publicity stunt.
I would rather we could deal with the straight up issues of the day. But with their boy doing the manufacturing and the rest of the conserveratti playing along with it right down to your response.
Don't hang another party's fucking vulgar animal on the Dems. They are made up of PLENTY of women and apparently they are offended and have had enough of the ongoing pattern.
That's probably a more accurate view of what ""Democrats would love"

MDomCouple, I have to say that ironically all of the young Republicans I know are in that party because of the Religious Right. Ironically, I know several who are disabled and don't look at the fact that the Republicans want to end the safety net that give these guys the means to live, they look only at the social issues. I could never understand how somebody on welfare or social security disability or SSI could vote Republican.

The American electorate routinely votes against self-interest. According to actual policy and measures of economic well-being, no middle class American should be voting Republican. But they vote Republican in huge numbers. I guess they think the Republican policies will help them when they become rich themselves - which, of course, rarely happens. But they will spend a lifetime chasing their dreams and voting Republican to protect a personal fortune that never comes, instead of voting to help their current situation. This has been well documented.

I am at more of a loss to say why someone who is gay, or a minority (except for Cuban Americans) would ever vote Republican. Maybe it is the same thing. That they view themselves as mainstream and don't feel they need to be protected from the majority? I don't know. These types of voting patterns never made sense to me.

I disagree...If I were running for public office I would be responsible only for my actions and I would make damn sure everyone knew it. That is the problem with politics today no one wants to be honest and up front.

I would feel like I was lowering myself if I even remotely responded to talk radio…Really it would be beneath me…lol

Do you think it is beneath a politician to respond to a neo-Nazi skinhead? I think extremism, even when only from a few nut cases, needs to be squashed wherever it emerges. It speaks volumes about what a society ultimately believes. I think a neo-Nazi skinhead is a pretty low life form. But I would applaud any politician who stood up to the skinhead. This is not about what I think of the skinhead. This is about what values we have as a nation, and how we want those values translated through our politicians. I would never want a leader who couldn't put a skinhead in his place. In the same way, I want a leader who knows how to respond to someone like Limbaugh. Not because Limbaugh is important per se. The importance is about putting his MESSAGE in its place.

No one looks up to bullies. But they still need to be put in their place. Putting them in their place is not saying they are more important than others. Putting them in their place is telling them they are being disruptive and need to go back and sit in the corner, preferably with the dunce cap on... [:D]

kdsub -> RE: Does Mitt Romney Have A Pair.... THIS is where we find out (3/5/2012 9:56:36 AM)

I would leave it up to the public to decide what they think of extremism in the media. As it should be…ultimately they are the ones that support through viewership the media in question.

They should also decide what they would think of my political stance and only mine. I am not responsible for the limpdicks of this world. Only if I respond to them am I obligated to judge and be judged by a response.

My views will stand by themselves. I feel no obligation to put a entertainer in his place...let the public do it.

Go ahead and ask me my stance on any subject...just don't ask me to comment on anyone else’s stance.

except here....[:D]

kdsub -> RE: Does Mitt Romney Have A Pair.... THIS is where we find out (3/5/2012 9:58:30 AM)

As a side note...I don't want to see my President on the Letterman show either...there should be a certain amount of class with the office.

Yes I'm old fashioned

To not respond to Limbaugh's statement about Fluke is to leave Fluke undefended after she testified to CONGRESS. There is very central political issue here. Private citizens who come forth to testify before CONGRESS and who are not criminals, deserve more respect as a participant in the political process. To leave Fluke undefended in this situation is to make a mockery of the entire Congressional hearing process.

kdsub -> RE: Does Mitt Romney Have A Pair.... THIS is where we find out (3/5/2012 10:11:09 AM)

I do understand what you are saying...I am just telling you what I would do. Now if i were running and you wanted to ask me what I thought of the contraceptive issue I would give a response... If you asked me what I thought of the nation trend for radical media ...I would respond.

But to ask me what I thought of what an individual entertainer said then I would refer you to my answers above... See the difference?

When political candidates (and incumbents) from one party have made a point of publicly apologising to a talk radio nutcase, then the claim that the drivel they spout is outside of the political arena is nonsense, I'm afraid.

Not surprising given that Florida has over a thousand miles of semi-tropical coastline and heavy beach tourism. However, fully 91.36% of all recorded shark attacks have occured on the Atlantic side. In fact, during the entire 129 years from 1882 and 2011, the Gulf coast recorded only 2 deaths from shark attack.

And the water is warmer on the Gulf coast too. [:)]

So what is so awful about democrat policy(s) that you would help and enable the GOP to not only throw the LGBT community under the bus......... but help the GOP to demonize the community?

There is a big difference between voting Republican and "helping thrown the GLBT community under the bus." The Log Cabin Republicans come to mind. That is a large, national, influential organization who is attempting to change the GOP stance on gay rights issues, from the inside. The world is not black and white, us vs. them. The world is shades of gray, and I honestly feel that the best way to get the GOP to realize what they are doing to the gay community is not by abandoning them over this issue, but staying with them and attempting to change them from the inside.

As for the Democratic party, I disagree with some of their fundamental tenets, such as larger government, increased taxes on "the rich," increased social programs, and the concept of a national health care system. Those issues, and those issues alone, are enough to make me sure that I can not support the DNC or party.

Now, for me, it came down to this:

Do I vote Democrat, thus having to swallow my distaste of several of their stances in order to get some of the gay rights issues I want addressed?
Do I vote Republican, thus having to swallow my distaste of their gay rights stance in order to get several other issues I want addressed?

Give up half a dozen, but gain one; or give up one, but gain a half a dozen? The choice was clear to me.

Additionally, - and I am not accusing you, Owner59, of thinking this way - but I am not just a gay man and resent being thought of us as just a gay man. My sexual orientation really is, when you get down to it, the least interesting thing about me. Sure, I will bring it up as a point of reference when discussing certain issues, like I did here. But, if the issue pertains to my profession, my home state, my hobbies, or my reading interests, then I will bring those up as well. When I go to the grocery store, I'm not a gay man doing his grocery shopping. I'm just a person doing his grocery shopping. So, choosing to vote purely because of one characteristic of who I am not only seems asinine to me, but serves to boil me down to nothing more than a demographic. I am so much more than that.

Do people often think I am shooting myself in the foot by voting for the likes of Bush, McCain, or Romney/Santorum/Gingrich/etc? Yes, quite frequently. Truth be told, there are things about each of them that I did, and do, despise greatly. But, at the end of the day, I still felt they share more of my values and my feelings than Gore, Kerry, or Obama.

I hope that explains to you how I approach the topic.

See my post right above this one. Perhaps that will help you understand why minorities vote Republican. You still may not agree with my choice, and that is perfectly fine, but at least you may gain an understanding as to the thought process of me and people like me.

And Romney has distanced himself from Limpbaugh's assertions how in this case?
His statement boils down to: "I agree with the twat, but would have said it in a much more mealy mouthed way."

I'm really sorry, but this is like a Jew supporting the Nazis. You realize if the true conservatives had their way, your lifestyle would not be allowed. At all. All of the legal protections that you enjoy today came from liberals fighting for the cause. Take a look at how gay people are treated in conservative parts of the world. Is that really what you want to support? A back to the closet movement?

For the record, not that it should matter, but I am bisexual. And I've had relationships with women. I would rather support my right to EXIST than to support people who think I should not exist at all. Conservatives in this country are still saying things like being gay/lesbian is a genetic defect. You really want to throw in your towel with them when they think you are a genetic freak of some sort (who they are willing to tolerate because you provide them with a vote, but are not willing to tolerate for anything else).

You do a disservice to all of those in the past who have fought for gay rights - and some paid with their lives. I find that heartbreaking. You are only allowed the freedoms that you currently have in this country because liberals fought a fight for you in years past. And freedoms that have been given, can just as easily be taken away. Remember that before the Nazis rise to power, Jewish people in Germany were a successful group who were free to own property, run businesses, marry outside their faith, live where they chose to live, etc. etc. etc. All of those rights were slowly taken away. Our rights only last as long as we protect them. Rights today NEVER mean rights tomorrow if things swing in the wrong direction.

According to this he did call him and ask him to apologize...

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/cutline/limbaugh-not-think-sandra-fluke-slut-prostitute-181711551.html

"Limbaugh claimed he was not forced into issuing an apology to Fluke, despite calls from prominent conservatives—including House Speaker John Boehner and GOP candidates Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum—to do so, as advertisers of his show fled in droves."

note: I highlighted the one part for those who need a smile today.
