Okay, I hate to fan the tinfoil-hat conspiracy flames but...

Department Of Homeland Security Buying 450 Million Bullets

[image]http://static6.businessinsider.com/image/4f7321b4ecad04b26c000047/ice.jpg[/image]

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office is getting an "indefinite delivery" of an "indefinite quantity" of .40 caliber ammunition from defense contractor ATK.

U.S. agents will receive a maximum of 450 million rounds over five years, according to a press release on the deal. The high performance HST bullets are designed for law enforcement and ATK says they offer "optimum penetration for terminal performance."

For precisely what the fuck does Homeland Security anticipate needing 450 million high-performance bullets?

K.

ammunition gets spent quick with automatic weapons, a single soldier might use hundreds of bullets every week, a lot of it is just "cover fire" it's not like those bullets will all end up in people

Actually, its really not a whole lot when you think of how many officers there are across the whole country. I would rather they have too many than not enough. I stock about 20,000 in my safe.

For those 450 naked and sexually frustrated zombies, of course!
They are silver bullets, yes? [8D]

People are missing the point, so I'll clarify...

For precisely what the fuck does Homeland Security anticipate needing any high-performance bullets?

Do you think they'd actually buy inexpensive stuff with our tax dollars?

Musicmystery -> RE: 450 Million Bullets (3/29/2012 10:56:18 PM)

DHS is a Theater group. Let them make paper mache bullets.

its also ICE.. so maybe they need em for all them illegals??? a few of them are cheaper than plane tickets, right??? [8|]

The 450 million is just the .40 caliber hollow nose.

They are shopping for another 175 million .223 for the AR16.

The !% has concluded that tear gas didn't work all that well.

ShaharThorne -> RE: 450 Million Bullets (3/30/2012 4:42:50 AM)

I am evil enough to post it on my FB. I know Bo is against DHS and ICE (and NSA to name a few other agencies).

This goes deeper than most folks realize.

kitkat105 -> RE: 450 Million Bullets (3/30/2012 5:14:42 AM)

Isn't it now legal for the armed forces to shoot a US citizen on home soil? I'm sure that law was passed while I was there.

They need something to shoot the people with!

Good thing you came along.

mnottertail -> RE: 450 Million Bullets (3/30/2012 6:07:06 AM)

Ja, and where will they store them and so on.

I wonder, if you took all law enforcement in the US, FBI, ATF, Rangers, state police, county sherriffs, city police .... and added up all the bullets if you would come up with that many.

The only two reasons I can think of for them having that many bullets for anyfuckingthing are:

They are all playing Call of Duty and are losing to the zombies.
They are going to train the crack troops manning the perimeters at the airport scanning lines in weapons.

Both of which bode ill for us.

Musicmystery -> RE: 450 Million Bullets (3/30/2012 6:25:16 AM)

There's a third: the factory is in somebody's district.

mnottertail -> RE: 450 Million Bullets (3/30/2012 6:39:04 AM)

Federal is in Anoka, Minnesota which I believe is republican.  I dont know where the other manufacturers are offhand.

That was my thought. That and they shop at the BJs of Ammo, where it pays to buy in bulk.

punisher440 -> RE: 450 Million Bullets (3/30/2012 10:34:41 AM)

The articule states they are buying from ATK,who's home office is in Clearfield,Utah ,with the small arms ammo made in Independence,Missouri.That plant has the capacity to produce 1.4 billion rounds of small-caliber ammunition annually according to the company website.

FrostedFlake -> RE: 450 Million Bullets (3/30/2012 10:37:26 AM)

That's nothing. My brother once bought every memory chip in the entire world.

The Boss said, get as many as you can... He picks up the phone, says, "How many you got? I'll take 'em." The lesson is, watch what you say.

I appreciate that my government is trying to impress me, but I've been around the block. I know they can't very well shoot me until AFTER I set off the thermobaric weapon at the airport. Or the mall. Or the courthouse. Or the football game. Or the symphony. Or in the tunnel.

It's people like me that make people like them buy 450,000,000 rounds at a time. It certainly isn't "the terrorists" because, if you will notice, there ain't none.
