you should keep it in your pathetic little mind that if you start throwing snark around others, including me, are likely to respond in kind.

Good Lord, say it isn't so. Trading snark? People do that here?

People are missing the point, so I'll clarify...

For precisely what the fuck does Homeland Security anticipate needing any high-performance bullets?

exactly! they are ramping-up to be able to handle massive social unrest. they already have "camps" all over the U.S. - this is no secret, but most people aren't aware.

people, stock up on bullets - besides their obvious purpose, they will be good barter currency if the shit ever hits the fan.

Okay, I hate to fan the tinfoil-hat conspiracy flames but...

Department Of Homeland Security Buying 450 Million Bullets

[image]http://static6.businessinsider.com/image/4f7321b4ecad04b26c000047/ice.jpg[/image]

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office is getting an "indefinite delivery" of an "indefinite quantity" of .40 caliber ammunition from defense contractor ATK.

U.S. agents will receive a maximum of 450 million rounds over five years, according to a press release on the deal. The high performance HST bullets are designed for law enforcement and ATK says they offer "optimum penetration for terminal performance."

For precisely what the fuck does Homeland Security anticipate needing 450 million high-performance bullets?

Funny thing is....these same guys (before it was called "Homeland Security") bought 700 million rounds in 1993.

It ain't all that much all things considered (but it SOUNDS like a deafening amount doesn't it?).

Heh. I imagine it sure would if it went off all at once!

But, when you consider that in 2005 our total military expenditure of all calibers of small arms ammunition in all ongoing combat operations of all the services combined was estimated to be 10 million rounds a month, and that DHS is a domestic police agency, 450 million rounds is enough to support an equal level of hostilies within the United States for almost four full years.

Against who, precisely?

Well that's an interesting point. Who were "these same guys" then, and do you have a link?

It's entirely possible I may have made those dates and figures up.

(Not that I'm admitting to any given thing).

Could have been the moment....could have been I'm a lying sack but....at the moment it seemed entirely right.

I was being influenced (not that it's right) by the left.

Okay....fine...I blame myself.......

Maybe they're holding the ammo for distribution to the well armed citizenry when we get invaded..............(tongue fimly in cheek)...

ETA: Seriously how far could one dig with the Freedom of Information Act to find out the DHS strategy here?

ResidentSadist -> RE: 450 Million Bullets (4/30/2012 3:41:30 PM)

I guess sometimes, 300 million bullets just aren't enough.
