Well confidentiality agreements prevent me from giving you the whole story. P.S. I saw nothing lame or pathetic in the personal attack.

I didn't think you'd be -- let's say -- sophisticated enough to understand that ANY personal attack in lieu of answering the question posed is lame and pathetic.

Thank you for reaffirming my belief.

The line I use is called 'birth'. It's so important we commemorate it with the issuance of Long Form Birth Certificates and everything! At that point, the "baby's" legal rights begin.

It's totally unambiguous. Just look at the time and date written down

Before that, it's a private medical matter between a patient and their doctor.

Exactly right. And that baby doesn't need the mother to contain it to thrive. In fact, it doesn't NEED the mother at all. A wetnurse could perform all the functions that the mother does.

farglebargle -> RE: Go Fuck Yourself, Mississippi. Why do you hate women? (4/6/2012 9:29:56 PM)

I think that's perhaps an inelegant way of putting it, but yes.

And, of course, Yea Motherhood!

Yeah, kinda like spouting slogans instead of making a a reasoned reply in debates.

farglebargle -> RE: Go Fuck Yourself, Mississippi. Why do you hate women? (4/7/2012 5:00:51 AM)

I'm still awaiting a substantive reply to my direct question. Why is it that you're ashamed to admit that you oppose unfettered access to family planning services?

Rethink the entire poll being based on dishonest starting assumptions, namely that "Pro-Life" is a valid position.

EVERYONE is Pro-Life. I'm as pro-life as you are. As is the next random person. It's a dishonest framing of the issue.

Those who advocate that woman should have unfettered access to complete family planning services, including abortion, on demand are Pro-Family-Planning.

Those who advocate that woman should NOT have unfettered access to complete family planning services, including abortion, on demand are Anti-Family-Planning.

I prefer Pro-choice.

farglebargle -> RE: Go Fuck Yourself, Mississippi. Why do you hate women? (4/7/2012 6:33:43 AM)

But they're not attacking just 'choice' about abortion, and if you let them dictate the terms of the discussion, they're going to do an end-run around you. While you're arguing about abortion rights, they're outlawing birth control.

The Anti-Family-Planners are attacking family planning, because that's what enables woman to control their lives.

Face it, most of them aren't happy that the slaves are free. How do you think they feel about "Their Women" making their own choices?

JstAnotherSub -> RE: Go Fuck Yourself, Mississippi. Why do you hate women? (4/7/2012 6:56:00 AM)

To me, Pro-choice includes women having a safe place to go, if their choice is abortion. I think we are just using different words to express the same feeling.

As for the "most aint happy the slaves are free" comment, as a born n bred southerner, that offends the fuck outa me.

SoftBonds -> RE: Go Fuck Yourself, Mississippi. Why do you hate women? (4/7/2012 7:37:30 AM)

Here is a simple solution:
All the folks who are pro-life, put a fund together, pool your money, whatever you are willing to put up to save babies from abortions.
Then you create "fake abortion," clinics. Start in the states where it is hardest to find an abortion clinic (e.g. Mississippi, Kansas). Tell the women they are getting abortions.
Once the woman is under, pull the premie out, put him in an incubator, save his/her life.
Woman goes home none the wiser, and once the kid is old enough to survive without the expensive machines, you can adopt him/her out, since there is so much demand for babies.
Of course, if you are not willing to do this, then you are pretty much just demanding the state spend money for your wants, which kinda sounds communist and lefty to me...

Do you have some sort of weird definition of family planning where reproductive healthcare ISN'T part of family planning or something?

Your trouble is you're trying to equate family planning with abortion. They are NOT synonymous.

Family Planning includes a lot of options and aspects that don't include abortion. Ergo, it's very possible to be Pro-Life and still be Pro-Family Planning.

You're just trying to use "Anti-Family Planning" as a lame misdirect to re-frame a viewpoint you disagree with in as negative light as possible.

You don't understand how taxes work?

http://www.whitehouse.gov/healthreform/myths-and-facts

Myth - Health insurance reform will use my tax dollars to fund abortions.

Fact - No. The health insurance reform legislation maintains the status quo of no federal funding for abortions, except in cases of rape, incest or when the life of the woman is endangered. A federal judge recently wrote "the express language of the [Affordable Care Act] does not provide for taxpayer funded abortion. That is a fact and it is clear on its face."

If they are willing to make exceptions, they are not pro life.

The very poll you brought to the thread includes listing those people as pro-life.

But, even if your objection is to the term "pro-life" being used to describe them, the poll clearly indicates that a high enough percentage of women are against abortion, that it demolishes the OP's assertion that being against abortion means you "hate women".

To me, "Pro-Choice" includes people who support a woman's right to have a doctor rip her fetus apart at up to 24 weeks when the fetus has full pain response (except the back and top of the head) at 14 weeks. It includes people that think ending a life is a method of "birth control" when there are so many other methods available.

Societies advance but it seems ours has stagnated.

Even the "Morning After" or "Plan B" pill is preferable to the brutality and heartless violence that some people continue to support.

I would fully support a program to provide free birth control (including "Morning After") to any woman (over the age of 16 without parental consent) who asks for it if people would stop be so damned blood thirsty and limit fetus-rending to 12 weeks or under.

We have methods that are far superior to the ones that were available to women almost 40 years ago. A woman doesn't need to miss two periods, go to the doctor, pee in a cup, wait three days and see if a rabbit dies. We have home tests that are as accurate as any test that a doctor can give. We don't need to allow abortions to happen so late-term.

Let's let "choice" mean that women can avail themselves of methods that are not so psychologically debilitating (for so many) and let's put a stop to infanticide.

There are babies that are born at 25 weeks that live (I was married to one). At 8 weeks old, a fetus has a response to pain in the palm of their hand. Let's start advancing and stop sounding like cold-hearted, blood-thirsty barbarians that think so little of our youth that we take a "meat grinder" approach?

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Agreed, with two stipulations:
1. If a woman is in a state that restricts access to abortions (AKA Mississippi), that would be a reason to exempt them from the 12 week limit, if they had difficulty getting transportation to a clinic.
2. If the health of the woman was in danger, or the fetus was deformed, both of which may not be obvious by 12 weeks.
Also, for girls under 16 who get pregnant, either parent or a social worker should be allowed to grant permission. I don't want to imagine a 14 year old incest victim whose father/child's father says no abortion, and whose mom is too scared of dad to sign the paperwork, forced to carry her brother or sister to term.

I should have mentioned that I was talking about abortion as a form of birth control. Rape/incest/mother's health are always exemptions in my book.

Well, you didn't address the birth defect baby, but I think we have a workable compromise. Given how far apart we often are politically, I suspect that compromise would fly with 80% of the US population.
Of course, there are a lot of people who make a lot of money off of arguing the issue, and a lot of folks use it for votes, so we will never see an intelligent compromise like that...sigh.
