Cokie Roberts talked about that in her wonderful eulogy for Betty Ford a while back. Roberts quoted President Ford on the subject:

You know, Cokie, I just don’t understand what’s happened in Washington. When your father was Majority Leader and I was Minority Leader, we would get in a cab together on the Hill and we would go downtown to some place like the Press Club and we’d say ‘Ok, what are we going to argue about?’ Now, it was a real debate. We had different views about means to an end. We genuinely disagreed with each other, we were certainly partisans. But after we went at it, we’d get back in the cab together and be best friends.

My Bro is retired now. But we talk maybe three times a week (he is THE BEST freakin Uncle in the world to my kids, even though he's on grand child two himself), and we talked this afternoon when I was at the beach coming in from surfing. He said he hears the attitude is "we've had a tough week" and while normally the policy is uniformly to come down hard when a public figure does a threat (I was surprised when he said it's actually happened quite a few times but in smaller circles most of the time and it's usually shunned by their own crowd. And apparently this time it wasn't. ). The difference this time is the White House not making a big deal out of it yet. And they don't want it to get mired down as a"wagging the dog".
He did say though that privacy will for quite a while be a thing of the past and that from here on out he'd best watch his mouth. And he recommended he get a good criminal attorney "just in case the grovelling and crying doesn't work".
I've never liked the guy a)Because being a sportsaman, though no longer a hunter, he is a fucking EMBARRASSMENT and hates animals.... and b) because his music sucks and is wicked negative.

It was James Hoffa Jr. and he was properly admonished for the statement by the very parties who should have handled it.... HIS OWN UNION.

Maybe some people should figure out if what you are saying is right we either have no right to opinions or the thought of our laws being upheld is a joke in itself. But, hey, the next time some guy in a bar grabs me I promise to think about it before I tell him to drop dead.

Actually, there is. But you'll first need to get a full scale rail gun with a specialized projectile you can strap a human to .... and of course, your victim into high orbit. But then you're not thinking small here are you?

Well, I'm not taking Stranglehold off the ipod, if that's what you are looking for.

I disagree with your premise that he directly threatened the President. Got into an armed insurrection vibe? Yep. Needs to have a long, and unpleasant conversation with the Secret Service about the sort of terms and imagery to avoid, when speaking of any President? Oh yes.

I'm a First Amendment kind of guy, but Ted has let his mouth take him right into a nasty gray area of it.

But made a direct threat? No. Said that he'd be, 'dead or in jail,' because of some personal Rambo fantasy? No. He could just as easily have been suggesting that a "more flexible," President Obama would have him jailed, or blown up by a drone, for speaking the way he does.

I'm limiting how much I get into these threads, so have a nice night.

Just him imagining that President Obama gives a flying fuck about him is a bit conceded.....maybe that`s why he acted out the way children do.....when they want attention.
This republican clown act will of course STFU after his "visit" by the adults.

Now as far a Rmoney`s campaign goes....we`ll be looking forward to what his new spokesperson and 2nd Amendment adviser ted says in the coming months.

Lets see if I got this straight. Eric Holder, the attorney General doesn't go after the Black Panthers who have publically put a "contract" (complete with a reward) on whats his name, because "they are just a SMALL fringe group."

Ted Nugent is ONE man. Groups don't get any "smaller" than that. How can he, with any credibility, investigate Nugent and "ignore" the Black Panthers murder contract?

If there is such a contract then the NBPP should be investigated and likely prosecuted. However the only thing even remotely close I can find is an offer of $10k for the capture of Zimmerman when he was in hiding. Capture != kill.

Apparently after his meeting with the Secret Service there was a handshake, and the agents went on their merry way with a thanks from Ted for their service. It's unknown if he provided hookers for the Secret Service men who interviewed him, or if he offered to BBQ a schnauzer for the Presidents next state dinner. However, as per the Secret Service, "The issue has been resolved."
