Well according to the article he killed it in '09, so if he is I hope he kept it on ice.

Funny, in 35 years of hunting and fishing I've never broken any laws I am aware of and never gotten any tickets or fines but Nugent has been busted twice in less than a decade. Maybe he should restrict himself to shooting caged critters on his own property.

I foresee a whole lot more problems for the little feller unless he manages to deflate his ego and disapear into oblivion. Bringing federal attention to yourself when you are already living on the edge is a very baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad idea.

He lives in a house that's built on top of U2's guitarist?
I know he's a munchkin, but I didn't realise he was quite that short...

Of course we all know that kind of hypocrisy is equally prevalent on the left as well.

Maybe you can cite us an example of a leftist radio network who have blackballed Nugent, then?
For all the talk about a vast leftist media conspiracy, it's the right who run most of your media, and rightist groups who have even the companies that aren't owned by Murdoch fawning and grovelling to them.

I knew Ted casually many years ago. He is as American as apple pie & baseball. He also is known as "terrible Ted" because of his strong opinions and occasion expression of temper. Combine that with his firm and well founded knowledge of politics and you get comments like the one he made. I didn't get that it was an assassination threat . . . nope, "terrible Ted" seemed to be commenting on the general order of things while the government wipes its ass with the constitution. Ted is an activist and I presumed he meant that he was gonna' get arrested for speaking out and attending protest rallies as a public figure . . . like the interview in that sound bite. I didn't get the impression he was gonna' start taking pot shots at the pres.

Could you give an example of this administration "wiping it's ass with the Constitution?" Keep in mind since Nugent never uttered a word of complaint during the 8 years of GWB that I will be holding him to that standard.

I had to look that up:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Nugent#Family

In 1978, Nugent began a relationship with seventeen-year-old Hawaii native Pele Massa. Due to the age difference they could not marry so Nugent joined Massa's parents in signing documents to make himself her legal guardian, an arrangement that Spin magazine ranked in October 2000 as #63 on their list of the "100 Sleaziest Moments in Rock".[27][28]

ETA - I thought "pedophile" regarding a 17 year old was over the top, but wait, there's more, which I can't post, so here's the link: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/04/19/ted-nugent-american-traitor-misogynist-romney-surrogate/

I served with the U.S. Army Rangers in Vietnam in 1970-1971 while Ted was crapping in his pants, hiding under his mother's bed. Even today, at age 60, I don't think it would take me more than 45 seconds to kick his ass and make him whimper and cry, the coward.

Ted "Yellow Coward" Nugent - all mouth - no guts.

I missed the shooting cats & dogs story. What I recall was his pro hunting activities, his active support for the Michigan Game & Wildlife Conservation efforts. Perhaps he eats cats & dogs or maybe "terrible Ted" has changed in the 30 years that have passed since I knew him. (see my comment at the end)

In 1978, he became the legal guardian of a 17 year old Hawaiian girl... all parties and parents acted together to give him custody. As far as young groupies/girls etc. I was in the music industry... that's as common as having 6 strings on your guitar. Whether I condone banging young girls, marrying your 15 year old cousin, adopting a 17 year old or think everyone should play 12 string guitars is irrelevant. It's pretty common whether anyone likes it or not. It was good enough for Ted, his girlfriend and her parents. Would I hold Ted to higher standards than the norm for his environment... nope. Do I know anything about the competency of her parents ... nope. Do I care or feel I have a right to judge about something like that done completely above board ... nope.

I acknowledge that actions speak louder than words and he stands judged by his deeds ... or lack thereof. And to you, thank you for your service.

I want to thank you all for your comments. It lead me to do some research on the man I once knew as a political conservative active in defense of hunting and gun ownership rights. Turns out things have changed quite a bit for Ted in the past 30 years.

In in May 2009, he transported a black bear he illegally killed in southeast Alaska, violating the Lacey act. He illegally shot and killed the bear on Sukkwan Island days after wounding a bear in a bow hunt, which counted toward a state seasonal limit of one bear.

In August 2010, California revoked Nugent's deer hunting license after he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of deer-baiting and not having a properly signed tag. Nugent's loss of that deer hunting license through June 2012 allows 34 other states to revoke the same privilege under the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact.

Hmmm.... that's a long fall from owning your own hunting ranch and having your own line bow hunting gear to becoming an Interstate Wildlife Violator... twice convicted. He can potentially be banned from hunting in 34 states.

I knew Ted in the 70s when he used to play and record in some of the same places I did. Shared coffee and conversations a few times. I bought weapons from some of the same stores he did and heard about the positive things he did for conservation and hunting regulations. In the music industry I used a lot of the same crew members and tripped over the same groupies he did. I heard more about Ted than I cared to.

The last thing I remember was at my recording studio when my secretary called us to the phone... there was Ted on an acoustic guitar singing her a song he had just written called Cat Scratch Fever. He called because his manager was there on different project but he took time to pay attention to a fan, a total stranger he met on the phone and share his new unreleased song idea. How many people have had a professional musician call you up and sing to you?

Somehow the pictures you paint of that old school Detroit rocker just aren't anything like I recall. Now because of the Obama comments, Ted Nugent has been axed from a concert at U.S. military base Fort Knox. He is pumping the spin machine with clarifications. He told Glenn Beck that he would cooperate with the Secret Service, adding that he spoke of voting Obama out, not doing violence to him.

Then end result of the Obama comments, the consensus in the social networks:
Ted Nugent is more of a threat to music than politics.
This doesn’t even make the list of Top Ten Crazy Ted Nugent Moments.

Draft Dodger?
In 2006, an interviewer from the British newspaper The Independent questioned Nugent about a 1977 interview in High Times magazine in which Nugent allegedly detailed elaborate steps taken to avoid the Vietnam draft. In the interview Nugent says, contrary to the story in High Times, that "I had a 1Y [student deferment]. I enrolled at Oakland Community College.". However, the Selective Service classification for student deferment is actually 2-S, and medical deferment is 1-Y. A copy of Nugent's Selective Service record shows that he had at separate times both a 1-Y medical deferment and 2-S student deferment.

Is the Motor City Madman an asshole... sure. Is he a child molesting commie draft dodger . . . I guess that depends on where you get your facts from, the army service records or High Times magazine, the 17 year old girl and her parents or the moral majority rumor machine. Is he a high and mighty all American boy with an apple pie in his hand as I portrayed... nope. I stand corrected, he is as human, flawed and fallible as the rest of us.

Probably true. And according to a few other posters, being liberal would be ample grounds for hatred. I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make.
