I don't think English is your first language. Some western men like Asian women. The man is not very masculine. She seems VERY VERY VERY Feminine. A little bit masculine + very very very feminine = the man FEELS very masculine.

Korean women are a force to be reckoned with. A-fricking-men I was the wimpy one, I mostly hung back and listened. The women run their society and their homes - they scare me. However from the outside appearance they can seem very meek. Korean society has an incredibly stiff structure and rules governing it. It's a facade though in many ways and it's interesting that so many don't see that. Again... A-fricking-men
Sunny is in Korea now, maybe she'll come along and add in her perception [:)] From my interactions I just can't see Asian women in general, and Korean women specifically, as being submissive.
I just saw this thread tonight, so here I am! Frankly, you nailed it, lizi. There is a way of looking at the world that is different from my observations. There's a "It's my responsibility to take care of a sick member of the group" perspective that I've not seen westerners have. It can be summed up like this: A westerner will say, "Let me know if you need anything," which puts the onus on the injured / hurt / upset person who might not actually be able to express what they need. A Korean will say, "I will come over and do X for you." They take being a part of a group at a much more serious, deeper level than I've ever seen. They look for what you need and try to fill it. When you ask a Korean person where the bus stop is, they will call from their phone, get the info, walk you there, find out where you are going, wait with you, and give your destination info to the driver so that person can alert you. Very different than other places I've been!
Asian women... subservient. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! They are some of the strongest women I've ever known. Do not f*ck with an Asian woman. She will cut your heart out, take all your money, and give you a smile while rubbing salt in your wounds.
Also, the beauty - yes... not only do they age better than westerners, but they take better care of their skin. They hide their skin from the sun (you should see the gear they wear - visor, face mask, gloves, long sleeved shirts - in the SUMMER!), a simple skin regimen includes 5 ungents / potions for the morning... different ones at night. They are also much more insecure about their looks because perfection is expected. They are forever looking at themselves and taking pictures of themselves (yes, in public). You'd be shocked by how many mirrors are all over the place. International businesses make allowances and put up mirrors that they wouldn't have in other parts of the world.
While this will be kind of controversial, it's how I have experienced things in the years of living here. I tend to think the women are uber feminine because their men are generally pretty feminine too... Need the gender gap!
Some of the women are more attracted to westerners for various reasons. One secretary told me she loved talking to the westerners because we don't humiliate them, don't call them names and scream at them in public. Sad. I read an article a few months ago about the push for more "mental health" days for customer service reps. They are distraught because so many people treat them so poorly. The answer is to give them more time off so they can handle the verbal and sometimes physical abuse. If they stand up for themselves or refuse to be abused, they are dismissed from their jobs.
Anyway, my words are based on a multitude of conversations with expats who live in Asia (predominantly So. Korea and Japan because they are my experience.) I have a lot of opinions based on actually living here in Asia, but the last time we had this kind of conversation, it turned out pretty ugly. I am glad to see that not happening in this thread.
