Whether the person be male or female D type or s-type- if they described themselves as slut, what does that mean to you ?

Your honest opinion would be useful.

we all know the basic definition of slut - likes to have a lot of sex with many partners.

in the BDSM context, to me, it means the first, but not necessarily the second. from what i've personally seen, it usually does NOT mean the second thing *frowns*.

i.e., i have no negative connotations when someone self-describes as a slut. i think, thank fucking g*d, a woman who's owning it and is past all the bullshit.

also, i think of myself as a slut, and i suppose, i am. i think deep down, most men are wired for that (shotgun, not sniper). but perhaps not as much as i wish i was, and perhaps i should watch what i wish for.

To me it just means they are trying to advertise a supposed high sex drive or lower sexual inhibitions. I don't really pay attention to it.

I think I do have negative associations with the word "slut." I've used it, of course...mostly to describe my feeling a certain way while with a partner. Slut for him kind of thing.

Then, of course, there are the women who joke about being a slut. I've done that. It's not always serious and...well...slutty. Sometimes it's just a fun descriptor that adults can understand.

But I don't think I could use that word to describe myself on my profile. It's quite the opposite, in fact, of who I am. It would very false advertising.

I guess when I see/hear the word slut, I take it as its straight definition, and while I don't have any moral objection to it (I wish I was more easygoing about it! Believe me!) it personally is just a turnoff to me, so therefore, the negative feelings. I suppose.

A slut can be monogamous.

A woman who has totally ditched society's 'expectations' about what a good girl should do and has discovered the pleasure that her body can cause and feel is on her way.
When she decided to completely disassociate herself from what 'other people' think and go her own way. Then, she can become a slut.

The monogamous slut just spends all that energy one one lucky person.

Some day, I hope to have that again.

My honest opinion is:

The word "slut" only bothers me or seems negative/hurtful when it is slung AT someone because you disapprove of his/her sexual behavior. No one has the right to make that judgment and condemn another just because they are perhaps more promiscuous than you are. When someone refers to him/her self as a "slut," I figure they know themselves better than anyone. To me, it means that they enjoy sex and have lots of it, perhaps of the typically-seen-as sleazy, down and dirty variety. I would say I've been a slut since I was a teen. I don't see it as a negative description or one meaning I have low self esteem at all. I take pride in the slutty fun I've had and don't plan on changing it anytime soon.......luci

It means they're looking for a fantasy in their heads and/or they are very new to the scene. They think that bdsm is all about sex so they are more into kinky sex than bdsm imo.

Hmmm... I love being called a slut lol

If I saw it on a profile here I'd just take it to mean either "sexually adventurous" or "this activity makes me damn horny" depending on the context.

meh.

Context is everything.

For some it implies liking lots of sex with lots of people (the "trad" definition of slut).

For others it implies that the person is expressing that they've taken charge of their own sexuality.

And every possible permutation between the two.

one Domme liked to call me her slut and i used it while serving Her. it did cause me some concern and was degrading to me. i sippose that was her intent. it summed up what She thought my status was as a submissive and left no doubt Whom was in charge.

For others it probably means someone who will do most anything they are told to and might portray themself as completely submissive.

I've always associated 'slut' with sexual adventure and courage. Having multiple partners might be a manifestation of that, but I don't put it there; society can do that for me, I'm sure. The courage is especially apt, as it expresses a confidence and ownership of your own sexual desires. Letting someone control you, or serve you, is still a choice, after all. (Have to tip the hat to both sides of the kneel, there.)

By that definition I could be referred to as a slut, and wouldn't take offense. Some mistakenly think of me as one just because I have dangly bits. Society does remind me of a funhouse, the hall of mirrors in particular.
