People hate the mandate, and his greatest hope was that the courts strike it down. [;)]

servantforuse -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 7:24:50 AM)

Everyone in the country will now be paying higher taxes.

Sanity -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 7:27:39 AM)

True, that.

And everyones insurance is already going up

Iamsemisweet -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 7:28:06 AM)

Let the hilarious neocon knashing of teeth begin

Musicmystery -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 7:29:07 AM)

Everyone's insurance was already going up. That was among the problems.

So....I thought he was fucked when they struck it down?

You guys. Even you don't know what you think.

Later, Rush will tell you what to think.

farglebargle -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 7:31:11 AM)

The only people who will pay more taxes are the FREELOADERS WHO DON'T HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE.

Go buy a policy, don't make yourself a burden on the taxpayers, and you won't have to pay any additional tax.

Or is this too complicated?

Dipshit---read, will ya? Did they teach past tense and present tense in your school?

You do realize I'm on the yay side of this thing, yeah?

Jesus fucking Christ. Don't you have enough problems without manufacturing them?

But if you want an analysis---some people's insurance will go up, some people's insurance will go down, depending on where they live.

Sanity -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 7:38:41 AM)

Kinda like Carter lashing out at Obama - Catfight! [:D]

Naw, just another dopehead who can't read...they cross party lines.

DomKen -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 7:42:33 AM)

Spin cons spin.

Sanity -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 7:43:28 AM)

First Rush is practically dead, now he is the Great Maharushie... [:D]

Not many speculated on the effects upholding it would have as everyone assumed that forcing people to buy things was unconstitutional, for some reason. However, this is not a popular provision and will breed resentment now that it is established as the law of the land

Especially as people begin to discover what is in it, now that it has passed

DomKen -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 7:47:35 AM)

Actually the individual provisions of tha ACA are broadly popular and this will have little if any affect on the President beating Romney this fall.

Clearly not, or it wouldn't have been in court.

I said from the start, "What's the difference between this and a tax???"

Independent commentators have been saying Roberts realizes the credibility of the court is on thin ice after Bush v. Gore and Citizens United, and that they would probably let the bulk of this stand. That also says something about where public opinion overall sits.

If Obama wins in November, that will settle the issue, and businesses will move forward with long term plans. If Romney is elected, the uncertainty will continue as he threatens repeal. But a lot of this bill is popular, despite your view of it, and Republicans know they can't really do that--hence the "replace" jargon. But they had years to do what they wanted if they had wanted to. They didn't.

Whether it's popular or not, this will go down as Obama's great achievement.

Domperformers -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 7:54:21 AM)

Obama's fucked....Obama's vindicated. I'd rather have four more years of what I think has been a mediocre performance from our commander in chief than put in another republican who wants to increase defense spending and spouts rhetoric that's likely to increase tensions with foreign powers rather than calm them.

Musicmystery -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 7:56:32 AM)

Exactly.

So is this YOUR preferred fix

Remember, the Dems held both houses of congress and the presidencey, they did whatever they wanted

Closed the Republicans out of the process

So again, is this what you would have done in their shoes

Ladle on laws and regulations designed to spike costs and then force the poor to buy at inflated prices

Someone wrote that costs were already rising, so Obamas and Reids and Pelosis solution is the only reasonable one

Force costs to go even higher

defiantbadgirl -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 8:13:39 AM)

It wouldn't have done any good to let the republicans in. All they do is say NO NO NO to everything.

mnottertail -> RE: OBAAMS FUCKED (6/28/2012 8:14:29 AM)

There was a republican president, house and senate and they invaded a country under false pretenses, thats what they did, instead of presenting a bill on single payer universal health care.

That old record.

Republicans did everything they could to stop the process, not participate in it. They even lashed out at Republicans who pointed out they were gonna be left behind if they didn't become part of the process.

They had six years of solid Republican control, and wasted it on illegal attempts to turn the country to permanent one-party rule. The voters told them to go fuck themselves.

So YES YES YES to higher taxes on the poor is good in your view
