I don't think there was an actually kidnapping in either case, but I also don't believe the streetjust is SlutFarmTurnip.

wildernessbitch -> RE: Identify This Brand (7/9/2012 10:23:32 AM)

Ya nor do I, but I think he is having his leash yanked by this woman.
To be on the safe side, I would still contact the authorities before "investigating" on my own. (especially something as arbitrary as band symbol)
If someone were to tell me this story, I wouldn't bother asking for advice. I would report it even if I thought it was a hoax.
The police can sort it out much quicker and more efficiently than anyone else.

+1
The whole Dick Tracy gig is, if nothing else RADICALLY irresponsible and speaks of incredibly poor judgement. As much as I fear and loathe the cops nowadays I'd be on the phone to the FBI in about 3 seconds with something like this. It'd be easy to say something like, "Look, I have no idea if this is some sort of hokum or not, but it isn't my job to figure that out. So here's the text I got along with surrounding information."

Besides, if it really is the California Almond Growers that's a fairly large and powerful group. I'm gonna need some help to invade their almond orchards and free all the trapped slaves.

Have to be careful, I hear they're growing support...

[apologies, had to be done]

OsideGirl -> RE: Identify This Brand (7/9/2012 10:49:14 AM)

For the OP, I'm going to explain this:

Once a month someone comes onto the forums saying that some woman has been kidnapped and held against her will. The consistent things about these threads are:

1) The person making the claim has never met the woman in question. He has only talked via email, IM or phone.

2) The person making the claim is nowhere near where the woman was kidnapped. ie: You're in Utah and this supposedly took place in VA.

3) For some strange reason the kidnapped person has access to their cell phone. Think about that for a moment. If you were a kidnapper would you allow your victim to keep and use their cell phone?

4) Rather than contacting the police/FBI/etc, the victim contacts some guy she's never met from the internet. (Various reasons have been given) And considering that your kindappee claims that it was her estranged husband and a group they belonged to....she should have no problems telling the police exactly who they are......but instead chose to contact some guy all the way across the country.

5) In the end the victim decides that they're staying with the "kidnapper".

So, I do hope that when you went to the authorities you stated that you weren't sure if this was real and that you don't really know the woman in question. I'd hate to see you charged for anything when you're trying to do the right thing.

*loves me some OC chica!!!*

TNDommeK -> RE: Identify This Brand (7/9/2012 11:33:48 AM)

I think he did answer it..after all isn't one of our main sayings " no reply is a reply"? Meaning, HELL no he hasn't met her face to face. He clearly has come back several times since the posted question, and read what posters have said, so there is no excuse for him not to have seen the question. He is a very gullible man, and I am kicking Myself in the ass for not finding him first, lol.

I see you've changed your avatar.  Are you being held hostage?  Call me on my cell.

GreedyTop -> RE: Identify This Brand (7/9/2012 11:35:24 AM)

I am being held hostage, I can't really see anything but I do see this brand on the box that I'm being held in. It says amazon on it. I can probably get out. But you should ask everyone on this forum what to do.

mnottertail -> RE: Identify This Brand (7/9/2012 11:45:10 AM)

OK, look around you, do you see any mailcarts you can hop on?   If so, you may be able to ship yourself to another location so that you could see where you were.

Even better?  Is your cell phone a Razr?  If so, we can construct a rudimentary axe and build a catapult to sling you over the the wire and outside the compound, wait for rodents to chew the box for nesting this winter, and you can effect your escape....

TNDommeK -> RE: Identify This Brand (7/9/2012 12:27:56 PM)

See this is why you are the best, so McGruber like. Still, ask everyone what else we should do while I try to aim this catapult the right way.

Then we will alert the coast guard and tell them, after the boyscouts of course.

As you can see, in the bottom right, this chick has obviously been kidnapped by someone in Montana.

You can thank me later for helping to narrow your search.

Army CID investigates potential crimes involving Army personnel. Coming from a military family I forget that civilians aren't always familiar with all of these things.

Being that I AM a military wife, I'm quite familiar with it all and I would have LOVED to have been there when you made that phone call lol.
