Remember folks.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

I just realized, it's been far far too long since I have 'assisted' my boss with his unreasonable fear of snakes.

I need a new rubber snake.

one of my co-workers is terrified of frogs and toads (of which there are many around the hotel). She seriously got pissed off at me when I told her I'd managed to twitch a japanese beetle over to one of the toads last week...LOL

I do not love them, but I am not afraid of them.

We have a HUGE rat snake that lives in one of the flower beds at the farm.

One of my sister's, the horsey one, has a whole nest of black rat snakes living in her horse barn. They crawl up to the rafters to keep warm. Now that is a sight, about 20 huge ass black snakes all tangled together and writhing all over the rafters.

It's made more than one person cut n run, I tell you.

BTW: Black rat snakes are not poisonous, however, they can get absolutely fucking huge, like 6" around, 8-10 feet long.

They love rats though, so great for the horse barn, you know?

Yes indeed. I welcome them. And the bull snakes, and garter snakes..........and most any actually. Bugs and rodents be gone! Even though I know we have the occasional timber rattler (that would NOT be welcome!) in Iowa, I've yet to see one. We are a little too far north for the copperheads or water mocs to be an issue.

The cats left a live baby grass snake on my bedroom landing last summer. Luckily vipers are very rare here and our only venomous snake. We get plenty of slow worms and the grass snakes get pretty big.

Right now the biggest thing I'm afraid of it dying, since I haven't done everything I want.

The next biggest thing is being alone at home at night. I hate it. I hear so many sounds..

I am not afraid of much. What I fear the most is dying and leaving my pets without me to care for them.

I used to be terrified of heights once, then I got talked into climbing. It was going well, just focused on the next bit to grab onto before I knew it I was at the top. That's when things rapidly deteriorated!
Had to look down, was about 50 feet off the ground, and let go so that the guy belaying me could lower me down. However, he managed to drop the rope. I fell most of the way down, banging my back off the wall before I managed to grab a old of something about 3/4 of the way down. Never have I screamed so loud in my life.

Master and I went hiking in WV once and I had never been there. Well he said to get to the other side for hiking we had to cross this bridge. I took one look at it and started panicking. He didn't know at that point how afraid of heights I was. The entire time while crossing he wanted us to stop, look down at the river and take in the wonders. Not me....I walked as fast as I could without stopping and looking straight ahead the entire time and hoping that people saw me walking fast and moved out of my way. I had to cross that thing twice that day and it left me a bundle of nerves.

Then my daughter and I went to Portugal at the beginning of Spring and there was this castle atop a steep mountain. I was able to hold on for dear life as this little rickety van car wound around this dangerous road that looked down upon the valley to the top. Once we got to the castle, my daughter wanted to go to the top of the castle and overlook the town. Well I tried, I really tried but I got about 1/4 of the way up and started freaking out and even crying. She of course threw a fit because I told her I couldn't go any further and she refused to go by herself because her fear is being alone doing absolutely anything at all. Yeah, that was not a good day and I don't think we spoke to each other the rest of the day. lol

Now before I ever make plans to do something I make sure it doesn't involve me and heights.

Nothing. I've been dead to many times to be scared of anything anymore.

Aww! Not even an alien invasion, MIP? And shoot, dying is so far from the worst thing that can happen to anyone...

After dealing with the demented, I have a plan in place for if my brain starts turning into a swiss cheese.

That literally has me sitting here in tears. Since turning 50, I have been having a really hard time accepting my mortality, to the point it has really put me in a bad place mentally every night when I lie down and try to still my mind.

I am really going to work on allowing it to pass through me, I think I have locked it in.

Turning a half century kinda sucks but it beats not having the opportunity.

I never had those mortality issues. I am startled to be turning 50, since I certainly feel reasonably young, but I'm looking down the barrel of a long lonely future and it's just more of the same. It's those that are left behind that suffer.
