PS: that is a vivid memory, that will always stick in my mind!

Status: offline 		I think I have watched the Olympics this time more than the last two times and have gotten more out of them too.....I have watched mostly in primetime and if I wake up in the middle of the night...highlights have been the swimming events, diving, gymnastics and volleyball...so far! I have been feeling more patriotic about them too for some reason.

Aww thanks ftp.

I mentioned my occupation, because some of us do have the "perks" of having a lot of time to watch during the summer.

Did you know that they are giving some of the empty seats away in London, to teachers, students, and those in the military?

So hopefully, when I am in Rio, I can pay for a few, and get a few seats, free. If I had known about the free seats in London, I would probably have made it across the pond, and slept on Stella's floor/or where ever!

Not sure why anyone would care what NBC spends their budget on.
Certain events, I plan to watch several times.

Great response! We all know people all over the world love and watch the Olympics.

Been watching the Olympics and loving them all my life.
No one can steal or diminish my Olympic watching joy.

The coverage is marvelous!

Yeah, the time difference is a bitch but we live on a round planet... what'a ya going ta do?

I am not having a problem with the coverage, NBC starts it's evening coverage around 7:30 p.m., and most people are home by 7:30 p.m.
Than it is repeated from 12:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Than you can watch it anytime on Demand, if you have cable.


I love the spectacle of the opening and closing ceremonies, watching the excitement on the athlete's faces... not to mention all the beautiful women from all over the world.
I LOVED watching the athlete's march in! Especially some of the countries that had 1-8 Olympians.
I plan to watch that again on Demand.

I love watching women's swimming, women's gymnastics, women's soccer, women's volleyball, women's beach volleyball, women's bicycling, women's track and field...

I love watching the intense concentration and emotion of the events, the (to coin a phrase) thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.

Most of these athletes have had to sacrifice so much, families have sacrificed so much, it is just incredible.
The amount of DEDICATION it takes to get to this level, is indescribable.
I LOVE hearing the back stories of the athletes also.

I love waiting to see what each Olympics' scandal will be as there is always one (badminton? I gotta admit, I didn't see that one coming).

I'm glad they alternate the Summer and Winter Olympics now... four years in between was too long a wait.

One more thing: I had always thought that baseball and soccer were the most boring sports in the world... until I saw a water polo match.

I have found myself really enjoying not only the water polo, but the white water rafting, beach volleyball, canoeing and kayaking and I have fallen in love with the rowing!!!!
Isn't it great to enjoy watching events that you previously did not care about?

The fact they have budget issues .. is a reflection on what America thinks about the Olympics ....

NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED .... to sell ad time .... thus Budget Issues ......

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Gabby Douglas win her 2nd Gold for the USA in gymnastics last night. Especially smiling while she was performing. What an inspirational young lady!

I agree except for the part about Water Polo. I remain of the opinion that Water Polo may well be the most boring sport ever conceived.

And they're standing there tossing the ball back and forth... back and forth... back and forth... and he throws the ball at the goal and its a score because the goalie can't move fast enough in the water to do anything... and now they're swimming to the other end... and now they're standing around tossing the ball back and forth... back and forth... ZZzzzzzz...

ETA: YEAH GABBY!!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!! (and I don't often say that).

That awesome performance of hers, that infectious smile... That's why I watch the Olympics!
