Thanks for the link needles. WOW!!!!! Something sure spooked that poor horse. I don't really understand dressage - it looks pretty silly to me. But then, I am sure that someone says that about every sport.

The unfortunate thing about Tiffany's horse being disqualified was that left our jumping team only three strong, instead of the standard four person team. They were medal hopefuls.

Oh well. Simon Whitifield crashed his bike in the transition during the triathalon. Alexndre Despatie flubbed a dive. Its just been one of those days for Canada at the Olympics.

needles, got any good links to the show jumping competition???

sorry Gt i'm not sure what plays in the USA compared to here in the uk. but i think if you could go through a uk server then you could carch up on the bbc iplayer. fair warning though, it's heavy on the download if you are limited. other than that it's a case of watching through freesat i think.

needles

ps, i think there are various clips available through youtube, although not the same as watching the whole thing i know.

Latest word has it that our triathelete, Simon Whitfield, also broke his collarbone in his fall yesterday. Poor guy.

Two Canadian medals today so far, a silver in mens k-1 1000 and bronze in mens c-1 1000. Could be mor to come!

Okay, you might be right. I am talking about the jumping horse! I know little about it, and did not take into account that they are two seperate teams. My apologies.

Now, back to soccer. FIFA has decided to investigate the coach and the team for comments made after the game. How about investigating the ref, and all the missed calls, including one out of bounds not called, and a handball on Rapinoe ignored.

Yeah, they missed this call too

Okay, I admit I haven't been watching. But I came across this story via Facebook and was twistedly entertained. Here's one bronze winner who seems to have gotten a lot more coverage than the golden boy. Of course, it's probably not how he'd hoped to be remembered.

i don't know about that Hibbie, but i'll tell you what i did notice. the difference between the dressage riders and the showjumpers in their manner. all of the dressage riders thanked their horses and were happy with how things had gone. all were happy to finish and acknowledged the crowd, who cheered for everyone. the same couldn't be said for the jumpers, which is a huge shame. i know it's disappointing if things go wrong, but ffs you're at the olympics meaning you are one of the best in the world. no matter how it goes smile, thank your horse, and acknowledge the crowd who are cheering you for being there.

dispite what it has all cost in the making, i personally have seen some spectacular performances across loads of sports.

I agree, needles! Hibbie and I watched our (so-called) USA gymnastics "golden girl" (maroney) behave in just such a boorish manner. TOTALLY DISSED the Russian (Bronze medal) winner. Absolutely disgusting.

edited because I CANNOT tyope worth a damn.,...

Yes, it's been remarkable watching the behaviour of the various athletes and how they relate to the crowds and each other.

i saw one of the hurdlers totally mess up the other morning (can't remember the country) who promtly threw herself on the floor in front of everyone and had a paddy! now again, i get it, it's a huge disappointment to do all that work, and get there for it all to go wrong. however, to actually get down and paddy.......shocking behaviour from a grown woman. do it in private if you must, but jeez

Manteo Mitchells performance was simply stunning, considering what took place at halfway.
