All the big department store have bra fitters. And they know the merch, so they can offer you the styles that will work for you.

I want to be a bra fitter.

But seriously....why the hell does any woman need someone to assist them in fitting a bra?

What am I missing here?

I don't need anyone to help me fit my underwear or socks.

If your tits are "this big" you get size 11 or whatever....if they're bigger...get a 12.

How difficult can it possibly be to put tits into a bra and be able to say "Yep...this is a good one"?

Trust me, not that easy, they need support and you want to be able to run after a bus without bouncing all over the place, you also want to have a smooth silhouette when you are wearing a t-shirt and not the 4 boob look, they have to fit the rib cage and the have to fit the boobies, additionally they shouldn't look like a contraceptive device. You might try on a bra in a shop and it seems to fit, but you are standing still, then you move or bend forward and you're slipping out. Additionally breast tend to be sensitive, you don't want something that pinches.

I'm a 36C. I slip on a cotton bra or a sports bra and call it a day. Thank God I'm not any bigger, or I probably wouldn't be able to get away with it.

Bravissimo do a really good fitting service and are in many UK cities. My Wench visits there when we're off visiting folks, gets fitted and then can order online in confidence they will fit.

Another option is to ask at your Doctors/Cancer care place. A sad fact but post breast cancer treatment a really good professional fitting service is needed and those guys will have fitters on speed dial. Often little out of the way stores. Thats in the West of course.

For those overseas I'd suggest getting fitted on holiday to see folks or whatever and then mailorder.

Another suggestion is to ask in a wedding dress shop if they have a reccomendation for a good quality lingerie shope. Years ago when I went to my SIL's wedding that's just what I did and was sent to a very nice but tiny store with a very knowledgable lady who fitted me quite well...took every measurement you could think of, uncluding the angled one down the collarbone to the nipple one.

I wore that bra until I got pregnant with the youngest they they changed size and shape <once again>

Yay for that not EVER happening again LOL

There's a fantastic shop here in metro Detroit that has really good high end stuff. The thing with fitting girls above a B is that you need a good quality item, and those suckers are NOT cheap. I was watching a docco on the history of bras, and a rep for a bra maker said that you should toss them every 90 days. Mom and I just fell about! Wouldn't it be spiffy to have a clothing budget that allowed for that!

That rep is just trying to pad her wallet honestly.

If you find a good quality bra it is safe to expect it to last at LEAST 1 year as long as you don't have any major life changes i.e severe weight gain or loss, pregnancy, menopause etc.

Actually, you do change a bra every day, then wash, so I think that could be right, I mean washing them about 100 times they kinda get worn out a bit. Mine usually go as soon as they don't fit right and comfy anymore, life's too short to court back trouble!

GreedyTop -> RE: Too much hate for slim girlies. (8/21/2012 9:25:40 AM)

Hell, I have a couple of bras I've had for at least 10 yrs. OK, one of them I can probably toss, since the left strap refuses to stay up anymore.

A couple of years ago, I was invited to get fitted and get a bra in NYC (at a GREAT shop called Town Shop). A dear friend made the offer. But since she had financed my visit in the first place, I declined (I felt like I would have been abusing her hospitality by having her purchase a bra - great shop, but the prices reflect their quality and service). I opted instead for a long sleeved silk undershirt (which has been a GODSEND in cold weather - I can wear it under my uniform).

NOW, I kinda wish I had opted for the bra. I am sick to death of having to constantly adjust the straps, etc.

even the racer backs don't fit me right. I swear, I am shaped like an alien.....that HAS to be the reason bras don'tfit me....

Hold the fuck on here......

I saw that Star Trek chic with 3 boobs....and I have to say...that was a pretty gawdamned good option in my opinion!

We now have an option for a FOUR boob look?

(And just for the record....that whole running after the bus thing is EXACTLY why we guys watch women's volleyball and basketball....trust me....we don't give a shit who wins!....so, frankly....your argument has lost a bit of momentum with me)!!!!!!

Those athletes have no boobs, JJ. At all.

So where's the gorram debauchery?

Awesome video LadyC! Thank you for posting it.

Only thing I wish is that they had done it on a larger sized woman...Even after all the work I've just had done, I am afraid I am still going to need some help in the plus sized bra department and it would be nice to know that large women can look right too.

I'm sorry...I've apparently missed the point of this video.

Nowhere in the entire video do they take their bra's off.

You know what I've gathered from this thread?

That I probably shouldn't moan so much about getting a cold...

I'm still gonna, just now I know I shouldn't

Thanks Lady C!

You know, after reading both of those web pages, I have a feeling my breasts fell so badly out of shape not only due to pregnancy and breast feeding my boys, but also due to wearing the wrong effin size bra the entire time I needed one.

The ONE time I had gotten fitted (mentioned in a post I made a couple of pages ago) The woman fitted me for a 38G...how the ever lovin HELL could I possibly need a G cup?
Well, those web pages very thoroughly answer that question for me.

I am really really glad this thread is here. I am now 150% convinced to NEVER ever buy a bra right off the rack again. Finding cheap bras at k-mart when they went out of business did me no favors, in fact it helped me ruin my body and cost me way more money than getting a good fitting bra for $100.00. I couldn't do anything about my breast size until now but, now that I've gone and corrected my breast size, I need to properly care for them and make damn sure I get fitted from now on when I buy new bras.

Sad really. Well, I know better now and will never make that mistake again...not only because I (and every woman btw) deserve to have well fitting clothing that doesn't ruin me, but also because I never want to have to have another breast reduction/lift again.

I've been seeing a lot of pictures of larger women and they're always captioned with "REAL women have curves" or "Curves are beautiful." It's not the pictures/captions that I have a big problem with (at least.. not for the most part). It's the comments that I see posted to those pics. And I see a lot of the same on this site as well. People have taken to calling slender women "disgusting" or "gross" or "a bag of bones."

People have hassled me for being too fat and too skinny in the same 15 minute time frame, even though my BMI and body fat are perfectly healthy. There's no way to please everybody, you just have to be comfortable in your own skin, and find someone who is attracted to you the way you are (and will still think you're beautiful even if you gain or lose a bit).
