Likewise.

My intial reaction to lilmiss was to run a BMI calculation, come out with a number in the 14's and reach for the keyboard to type a sanctimonious 'eat more beeeatch' speil. Which would be rude, unhelpfull and completely out of order as I have no idea how well BMI works for those at the lower end of the height scale and I KNOW its wrong for many others (I've always been overweight according to BMI even when I was a professional rock climber and mountain guide with silly low amounts of body fat).

Of course my mother had/is in remission from Anorexia and the aforementioned lover with another eating disorder have had a large impact on me. But my Wench practicaly had to beg me to help her loose weight and it was only when I had the health issues she had pointed out that I got with that program. So I'm far from unbiased. Which sucks. As I like to think of myself as a rational human being.

hmmm.. I have a hard time finding clothes and i am not super skinny or on the larger side.. what i am is.. top heavy! [:(] My body is shaped more like a V.. I have narrow hips compared to the rest of me so forget finding dresses or skirts or pants that fit me.. what fits in the waist means that i have an extra yard of fabric around my hips!.. I was only able to buy womens pants/jeans when low rise came into style but now those are much harder to find.. its back to buying jeans in the mens department! Forget dress pants and skirts or dresses.. Its not fair, I tell ya!

LaTigresse -> RE: Too much hate for slim girlies. (8/19/2012 6:16:57 AM)

And I've always been the hourglass shape......plus having a short waist and longish arms and legs. Dresses can be a nightmare and jeans, misery. If they fit through the ass they are gaping at the waist. If a top fits through the chest it is too big and baggy elsewhere and probably still short in the arms if it is long sleeved.

And bras SUCK! I almost always have to alter them because the makers assume that boobs my size belong on a larger rib cage.

I bet there is more than one affordable store in your country. And I'm betting that you can get bras for bigger than a B cup. Just a guess...

~fr~

Maybe a bunch of people getting together with a sewing machine?

I realize making stuff oneself is sort of out these days, but turn it into a social event and it becomes fun.

Got the same problem, go up one size with the cups and check out www.figleaves.com, really nice stuff and you just give in your size and they show you what they have, you can even tell them your preference regarding colour, cut, etc and they take returns

And the last 10 comments about not being able to find clothing to fit is exactly one of the main reasons I went and had surgery last Monday. It may seem like an extreme, but so what? I am SOOOO looking forward to being able to wear clothing right off the rack!

If I had to guess, I will likely end up between size 8 and 10 (on avg since sizes vary between manufacturers) And I can live with that ;) I'm well aware I will never get even close to size 6.

I have given up for now.. I have a really hard time finding a bra that fits me so its those stretchy bras which arent really good for the boobies and (cuz its hot where I am so pants dont get worn anyway) its polo shirts and shorts with an adjustable string tie at the waist.. I have tried sewing but i am really bad at that...

KYsissy -> RE: Too much hate for slim girlies. (8/19/2012 1:23:47 PM)

I like size 2. I like size 20.,And everything in between. I just like women, in all their glorious variety.

Ahhh if I could sew, I'd be all over that! I've tried several times, but I can't do it. I do, on occasion, design my own clothes and have them made. That's fun! I was in a coffee shop the other day and there were a bunch of those big burlap sacks. I admit my mind went to... hmmmm if I could sew, I would totally use those for something!

sunshinemiss -> RE: Too much hate for slim girlies. (8/19/2012 4:02:37 PM)

I don't know where you are tj, but in the US and in Europe there are stores that will fit you. TOTALLY worth the cost in my experience.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Too much hate for slim girlies. (8/19/2012 4:07:23 PM)

All the big department store have bra fitters. And they know the merch, so they can offer you the styles that will work for you.

Any "advantaged" group is a socially safe target for vitriol. Just ask any of us overpaid white guys.

I want to be a bra fitter.

But seriously....why the hell does any woman need someone to assist them in fitting a bra?

What am I missing here?

I don't need anyone to help me fit my underwear or socks.

If your tits are "this big" you get size 11 or whatever....if they're bigger...get a 12.

How difficult can it possibly be to put tits into a bra and be able to say "Yep...this is a good one"?

Wait a second now.....you're making your boobs smaller?

That is soooooo wrong!

And you're using that old selfish excuse of personal inconvenience?

What about the rest of the world that looks at them and fantasizes about them....they get no voice in this?

Something is very wrong with this world.

I have the opposite problem. Plus I like the racer back so the straps don't slip off and I hate underwires. So I shop online at fullbeauty.com and justmysize.com.

It's invariably cheaper to buy online, so I get underwear there too.

When I was in Okinawa in the 80's I TOWERED over the women there. I could only shop for clothes on base.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Too much hate for slim girlies. (8/19/2012 4:18:15 PM)

Hon, have you BEEN to a bra department? And I dont meen the sexay department, I mean the regular wear em all day bra department? There are hundreds of choices. Because everyone's girls are unique. And they need support. Not like you men and your sloppy dangling about!

Honestly, I've never had an issue choosing bras, but since fitting went out of style (and honestly, I think it's too bad that the young women don't get harassed by opinionated middle aged harridans about their figures, it's character building) lots of women wear the wrong sized bra.

The bigger the girls, the harder to find a good fit.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Too much hate for slim girlies. (8/19/2012 4:26:01 PM)

Well, Nook, it's a health issue.

from : http://www.brasize.com/bra-fitting.html

Health

Wearing a badly fitted bra can actually make you ill! Both headache and neck pain can be caused by a wrong sized bra!

Many women use bras with too large band size and too small cup size. In such cases, the breasts are supported by the shoulder straps, which will cause a lot of unnecessary pressure on the shoulders (which again can cause neck pain and headache). With a perfect fitted bra, the breasts are supported from underneath and not from the shoulder straps. This way it will be almost no pressure on the shoulders.

Even circulation problems and skin problems can also be related to bad fitted bras.

Bad fitted bras can also cause breathing problems. According to The British School of Osteopathy, bad fitted bras (too tight bras or underwired bras) can put stress on bones and muscles, which can cause breathing problems.

************************

With all these medical issues, I want someone who knows what they are doing to help me. I feel the same way about shoes. If I"m having lots of leg and knee and foot and back pain because I have ill fitting shoes, I'll go to someone knowledgeable and get fitted for proper shoes. In fact, I do that. I went to a podiatrist. Took the pain right away! Same for my new (and beautiful) bras. They fit. I don't have back and neck pain any more - or at least dang near none, and I can go jogging with my new sports bras.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Too much hate for slim girlies. (8/19/2012 4:29:13 PM)

It's true. I am not as well endowed as my HHH, but the girls have a certain presence, and nary a bit of back or shoulder trouble from them.
