Well, one of the mods decided to mod me for two weeks so I decided to take seven months off.
I just got back from a two week trip out West to visit Navy and Coast Guard buddies.
Flew in to Kansas City, rented a car went to Kearny, Mo. (CG) Omaha, (Navy) and then drove out to Seattle (1,760 miles each way) to visit a CG buddy in Shoreline, Wa.
One of his neighbors is Capt. Sig Hanson of "Deadliest Catch" fame.
He walked up to the store to get a pack of smokes and opened the door and there stood Capt. Hanson!
He was wearing his "U.S. COAST GUARD" "VETERAN" ball cap and Capt Hanson came right over and started shooting the breeze with him.
Says he sees him there about once or twice a week.
He said he makes so much money from the show that he doesn't even care if they catch any crab! lol
They probably have a bunch of rubber crabs to toss around on the show!
Oh! And we went up to Everett Wa. and took the tour of Boeing aircraft co!
The building is the largest free standing building in the world and you walk on catwalks six stories above the manufacturing floor and the huge jets almost look like toys!
And in Omaha my Navy buddy took me to a restaurant called "Twin Peaks", like Hooters with less clothes and great food.
They all say (((HI))) real loud as you walk into the joint and I said, "HI LADIES! WHO WANTS TO COME HOME WITH DADDY TONIGHT?"
And in K.C. we went to Arthur Bryant's the famous barbeque place that I saw on The HIstory Channel about six months ago.
So it was a great trip! And the scenery is fantastic in Montana and Idaho!
Now I'm planning another trip to Prague and Germany in November so I'll be voting absentee.

Firm, I'm waiting for someone to explain the "Summer of Recovery",....TWO FUCKIN YEARS AGO!
No mention of that?
It's like they're on a sinking ship and they're talking about what a nice breeze there is and wondering if they'll stay afloat long enough for dinner.

This one really isn't empty. Barry's just outside, practicing his backswing while the deficit reaches 16 TRILLION dollars.

What the hell. Nero played the fiddle. Barry plays golf. Everyone needs some down time.

Some historical perspective on a tired meme:

Obama and golf: Par for the course for presidents

According to Martin Davis, editor of The American Golfer, "Clearly, there has been a long association with the ancient game and the American presidency. In fact, Obama is the 15th of the last 18 presidents to play golf. Not only is he a hugely avid golfer, but a pretty fair one, too. As far as how much time he spends on the links, his annual rate of play is about the same as President Dwight D. Eisenhower, with President Bill Clinton right on their heels."

ETA: I forgot another interesting point Davis made: "Lyndon Johnson played the game, warning his playing partners that it wasn't proper to beat the president. Most significantly, he used his outings on the links to secure votes for the Civil Rights Act of 1964." Depending on President Obama's golfing partners, he may indeed be working.

Not over 100 times in 4 years, and a total joke since he says he doesnt have the time to try and build relationships because he has to be home with the kiddies. Too fucking bad, you wanted the job of running the country, do it and stop the incessant whining. The people you want to pay for your programs sacrifice their time with the kiddies and dont play 2 rounds a month while they are building their business, and they sure as hell dont do it to line your contributors' pockets.

"But even those loyal to Mr. Obama say that his quest for excellence can bleed into cockiness and that he tends to overestimate his capabilities"

And his results.

Mike, if Oblunder got drunk and and got behind the wheel of that big limosine and killed someone you and Owner would be up all night making up excuses for him.
"Well, he didn't really mean it." "He killed a nobody, so what?" "The breathalizer was "antiquated."

slvemike4u -> RE: Labor Day has been cancelled ... (9/4/2012 9:59:26 PM)

Did you notice an occasional "out of sync" issue with the audio, and the video? It seemed to me when they took the video feed off the same pipe that was feeding the "jumbo-tron", the audio proceeded the video. Pretty damn distracting.

Firm

The Jumbo-Tron isn't on a delay like broadcast TV is. That would be the issue.

It's either that or, if they're taking the feed right off the Jumbo-Tron but still capturing the sound, coming from the speakers, on their ambient microphones. Sound moves slower than light. When you go to a concert, where they use a Jumbo-Tron, watch the drummer (especially) and notice that you'll see him hit a cymbal before you hear it.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Yeah, what horrible qualities:

Even by the standards of the political world, Mr. Obama’s obsession with virtuosity and proving himself the best are remarkable, those close to him say. (Critics call it arrogance.) More than a tic, friends and aides say, it is a core part of his worldview, formed as an outsider child who grew up to defy others’ views of the limits of his abilities. When he speaks to students, he almost always emphasizes living up to their potential.

“He has a general philosophy that whatever he does, he’s going to do the very best he can do,” Marty Nesbitt, a close friend, said in an interview.

Mr. Obama’s aides point to the seriousness he brings to the tasks of the presidency — how he virtually never shows up for a meeting unprepared, say, or how he quickly synthesizes complicated material.

Well!
Elizebeth Warren ,"The Fake Indian" is speaking tonight!
I don't know how she can show her face in public after all the shit she tried to push on people.
Numerous Native American groups have gone to her house in Cambridge, Mass when it was known that she was home and rang the bell, knocked on the door and stood around on the sidewalk outside her house with the Camebridge, Mass Police as an escort and,....................nothing! Not even a cup of coffee! If I were a Native American I wouldn't want her in the Senate voting on Indian Affairs bills.
Watch for two words she will probably overuse, "hammer" and "investment."

Firm, remember that song from the Who in the 70's;........"No-one knows what it's like....to be the Cherokee,......behind blue eyes."

And I think Bill Clinton speaks tonight right after Lieawatha.
"Hey Barak, grab that suitcase for me like a good boy, willya!"

It has nothing to do with politics. But there are a lot of people leaping to that assumtion. I have no idea if it has anything to do with intelligence. So I won't comment as to why.
