ORIGINAL: tazzygirl Despite a nearly three week flap over her claim of "being Native American," the progressive consumer advocate has been unable to point to evidence of Native heritage except for a unsubstantiated thirdhand report that she might be 1/32 Cherokee. Even if it could be proven, it wouldn't qualify her to be a member of a tribe: Contrary to assertions in outlets from The New York Times to Mother Jones that having 1/32 Cherokee ancestry is "sufficient for tribal citizenship," "Indian enough" for "the Cherokee Nation," and "not a deal-breaker," Warren would not be eligible to become a member of any of the three federally recognized Cherokee tribes based on the evidence so far surfaced by independent genealogists about her ancestry. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/05/is-elizabeth-warren-native-american-or-what/257415/ I'm not a Mass voter, so my stake in the election is ideological as opposed to being a real stake. But I find it offensive living next door and seeing Scott Brown flood the local channels with Karl Rove prepared ads addressing anything but the issues. There's even one ad where he talks about how the government has been harsh on the fishermen displying a US Coast Guard vessel used for rescue of fishermen. Everything in the ads are bogus. I hope the voters get a real dose of truth at the ONE debate Scott Brown reluctantly agreed to. FMR, me too! Where does Warren stand on defending our borders and starting to enforce our immigration laws? I'm neither a Dem nor a Repub, I'm an Independent and I vote the issues and the person. But, when I see someone like Warren the red flags go right up! When she committed a crime and then kept trying to minimumize it by continuing to change her storie(s) it speaks volumes. I was in the U.S.C.G. with two women from Narragansett.
