As for highest paid in the nation, where did you get that uttter asswipe?

I guess name calling makes you feel superior.

Of course it depends on who you ask.... but according to the figures released by the school system....

Taxpayers do pay the wages of teachers. They are employed by the state and city.

Taxpayers pay taxes. The state pays teachers.
If the taxpayer was paying the wages of teachers the taxpayer could claim a deduction for that.
If the taxpayayer was the teachers employer the taxpayer could fire the teacher.
If the taxpayer was the teachers employer the taxpayer could instruct the teacher in the proper way to teach.
How does that mindset work when the taxpayer tells a cop that the cop is speaking to their employer and that they need to be a little more polite?

76K is about $38 per hour. Why do you find that excessive?
Do you feel that there should be a limit on how much money someone in the u.s. is allowed to b paid for their labor?

In a city where the average family income is $47k a year, I think the teacher of Chicago are more than fairly compensated for their labors.

Their strike is pure greed.

Nobody has called anyone names.   Jeez, I guess the highest paid corporate officers want bigger pay and bonuses as well these days, with their dismal track records.

Who do we string up first, here?

Bill Gates doesn't get paid by the taxpayer, per se. Government purchases of his products are probably a small part of his overall sales.

The question is about limiting someones income...who the employer is is hardly relevant.

And just where the fuck do you think the state gets the money to pay the teachers? From the taxpayers.

Just like Bill Gates is able to pay his employees off the money he gets from the sales of his products. The difference is Bill Gates can't put you in jail for not buying his products.

I didn't call you that, I called your data that.
Please learn to comprehend things if you do not wish to be a textbook case of "What happens when you have overpaid underperforming teachers"
As the figures released by the school system. They forgot 3 important words. "Fifty Largest Districts"

Yes folks, they lied to you and you drank the koolaid.

They aren't even the best paid in IL.

That said, they need to get their ass back to work. If the system wants to save money, they can start at the top and work their way down. This crap has been going on since June.

Just where the fuck do you think the restuaranteer I mentioned, gets the money to pay the staff? From the people who buy meals in his restaurant. The taxpayer pays taxes because those are the dues one pays to live in yor country of choice.

So let me get this straight. You are against greed as a motivator. So in your opinion greed is bad have I got that right? So cops, teachers, doctors, firemen, nurses, mayors and councilmen etc.should all work for what you think is fair. That sounds like text book definition of socialism. Who gets to say how much is fair for you?

Bill Gates has the money to do whatever he wants to. The state of Illinois does not. Instead of going on strike, this union should be working out a solution.

Not to mention the state of Illinois already owes public sector pension funds more than Bill Gates is worth.

I never knew this before. Dues paying members pay for public schools, not taxpayers.

Perhaps you should reread my post it says that dues paying members are taxpayers.
My post points out that the state pays the teachers not the taxpayer. The taxpayer pays taxes.

Teachers and other school staff do not get vacation, they get time off.

They are paid for the days that they work, and that salary is spread out over the entire year. Most work 190 days. So, lets say they have a salary of $50k.

50k divided by 190 days = $263.15 per day, which equals $32.89 an hour.

Seriously, this is too much for the folks who are teaching our children?

Let us go with the $76k referenced in the OP, although that is not the average salary of any teachers I know.

$76k divided by 190 days = $400 a day, which equals $50 an hour.

So, what exactly do you think someone who is teaching our children is worth? I would say they are worth more than a movie star or a quarterback.

They are not in it for the money.

In Wisconsin, teachers actually teach 182 days of the year. That means that they are off 183 days per year. Call it time off, vacation or anything else. They teach for 6 months and are off for 6 months.

Thanks you JstA for stopping my keyboard from blowing up!

So many people are uninformed about how teachers get paid. Free summers, Free Christmas, Free Easter. Long weekends. They get paid absolutely NOTHING for that shit. With the exception of summer, do you what your teachers do with their free time? They mark all that SHIT your kids can't even hand in on time!!!

They take time away from their own children to volunteer to coach the basketball team, the volleyball team, the football team, the wrestling team, the gawdamn debate team! And then they come home say good night to their kids, and stay up untill TWO OCLOCK IN THE FUCKING MORNING marking and doing lesson plans. Oh, and gawd forbid they get SICK!!!!! They may get sick days, but it takes a good teacher up to four fucking hours just to do the lesson plans so they can stay home and puke in the toilet all day.

Do you think I am married to a teacher? You're gawdamned right I am. And he is one of the single most hard working guy i know!

This shit comes up every fricking time there is a contract expiring, like ours does. But instead of bashing your teachers union, why don't you find out the facts. Trying supporting teachers for a change. They are the ones who are going to help your children become something t
In this world, because it sure as hell aint gonna be you.

Cry me a river. With benefits these teachers are nearing or over $100,000 per year. They are on strike to make more money. Rahm Emmanuel needs to hold tough, maybe do a Scott Walker imitation .

Wow, only 1000th of what a CEO makes, and they have your kids brains for 8 hours a day or more (and nowhere in America is a school year 6 months).
