Good article. Its disturbing to see so much anti-American sentiment; George W. Bush & Co. took the USA from a point of world sympathy (9/11) to world antipathy (the invasion of IRAQ.) In many quarters of the world, we are the new Russians (aka, the bad guys.)

We'll never quite know what the world would be like right now had GWB simply waited for Hans Blix to do his job, then instead of invading IRAQ, getting some kind of concessions from it instead.

We'll also never know what shape we'd be in now if Gore had won the election and all the ensuing mistakes of GWB were not committed.

I'm hoping I read this wrong. Are you seriously saying that the Muslim world didn't hate us before Bush II? Seriously?

I would posit that a good number of extremist Muslims have hated our guts since 1947 and that that feeling has just become ensconced in their ancestoral memory. I will also say that based upon this; I understand why they hate us. I get it. We fucked up.

Having said that, it's no excuse. If it were, then we'd be justified in going to Afghanistan and just turning the entire place into a parking lot which would have been much more easily accomplished than the edict with which our troops were armed, when we sent them.

Sorry, I'm with Butch. These people - on the whole - hate us and look forward to the day when we are no more. In their eyes, there will never be peace with us.

The one way that I will disagree with some is that with our over-all construct of how we wage war, we cannot defeat them. We need to change our view of how wars are fought.

A campaign of mamby-pamby by an invader will always lose to a campaign of "patriots", fighting to keep hearth and home safe. I warned people about this when we first went into Afghanistan and I will continue to do so.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

It is good that you have a plan, king.

Umm, it suddenly came to me that other people might also have a plan, and that those guys might be less naive than thou... - and averse to telling us what their plan is... Astounding thought, not so? Do you think that there might be any truth to that? Or is it by definition only you that can have a plan?

Who

kdsub -> RE: Some insight into the Arab riots. (9/15/2012 7:02:20 PM)

Rule....hello Rule...I'm waiting...who has a plan that is working today?

Maybe some new ideas are needed...even if radical.. Tell me what did I list that if implemented would not at least change the status quo…? Which has not worked.

That's true. The view that the USA fighting a war might lead to it actually winning that war - that needs to change, for starters.

You're kidding about the bit of not being so sure its crap? Right?
I mean the material at that link is reminiscent of that holy land religious suit you see on the Christian Broadcasting Network.... You could add nothing to make that garbage footage worth wiping your ass with. It's like byad south park.

I have no idea.... I have never seen it.

But lots of movies are crap...are you saying crap movies should not be made or are you saying only movies that offend radical Islamist because they might blow up schools, fire bomb embassies and murder American citizens.

But I tell you what... at least the Islamist Wack Jobs and The American Government are finding common ground that this is the movies fault!!!

How's that for cooperation!

Owner59 -> RE: Some insight into the Arab riots. (9/15/2012 7:21:58 PM)

Well the "strategy" of invading whole Arab countries, destroying them and killing thousands of their people and the hate that would create seems to be what our cons are suggesting we do again......when they claim the president needs to get back to what we were doing before he took office.....

And we all know how well that went...........

Apparently we don't. People have the political memories of goldfish. The fact that this gung ho 'that'll learn 'em!' foreign policy has kept on not working, decade after decade, never seems to penetrate.

Seriously... tell us... what is the proper way to criticize allah, his prophet and islam? I'd like to know!

HOLY VISHNU!!!!
