I believe it is an excellent and easy way to filter out the fantasy players from the people who want to genuinely communicate with you.

What the fuck? Oh god... is this another one of these... "common sense" things again? I fucking hate those!

To the OP...

It could be that there are some sub fems who like to be addressed as girl, slave, slut, or whatever right from the get go (although I doubt that there are all that many geuine sub fems who like that) and if that's what they're after then fair play to them.

The important thing is that it happens to be something of a turn-off for you.

Think of it as an easy filter that immediately alerts you to the fact that SirUberGrandPoobar may not be a great match.

As it happens, the fact that that sort of thing is something of a turn-off will be quite attractive to some doms.

I have my name(s) on my profile for a reason. Either call me by my username, the name(s) Master gave me, or don't call me anything. Better yet? Just don't contact me!

Another BIG peeve of mine - People that call me "my dear", "my darling" ect. I am not YOUR anything.

That being said, if I've talked to someone for long enough for me to feel comfortable with them, I have NO problem with them giving me a bit of a "Pet Name".

Personally, I prefer "My Leige" when being addressed for the first time, whilst I generally start off with something like "Hello, cuddlewhumpuspoobearhoney".

Yeah, nothing like being 46 and getting an email from a 25 yo "Dom" that says, "Hello, my dear" or "Hello, little one".

How do you feel its appropriate to address a sub/slave on first contact?

On the profile side, I never make the first contact, they do. This doesn't change my answer in the least.

I address people <drum roll please> like people. Just plain people.

I find a lot of the mail I get from cm addresses me as girl, slave, or it. Its something of a turn off for me.

Do you think its appropriate to refer to a slave in that manner when first contacting them?

Hell, it turns me off and I haven't a submissive bone in my body. It's presumptuous and rude.

"little one" all too often comes across in this totally pedo-bear manner and makes my skin crawl unless and until I'm actually committed to being that person's ... little one

dear, darling, etc don't really bother me but the one that cracks me up is "my child", especially coming from a man who is 5-10 years younger than me

This was the response from a 25 yo after I told him that I felt it was inappropriate to use pet names on someone that you don't know:
quote:

little one is not a pet name just a form of address for daddydoms to potential babytoys...

Keep in mind that my profile says that I'm just here for the forums. It was creepy to start...add the fact that I belong to someone else...it's rude too.

I prefer to be addressed as "cunt", "whore", or "twat" - when someone initially writes to me. I get so turned on, I literally hear wedding bells - The guys on this site are so HOT - especially when they have ass sores because they never leave their computer chair.

I am far more than a label and definitely not a thing. Thankfully, not too many make the mistake of addressing me in such a manner. I hate causing bloodshed for work rather than pleasure.

Do you feel it is appropriate to call a doctor "doctor", even if he isn't your doctor? How about calling a waiter "waiter" or politely addressing a gentlemen as "sir"? Why wouldn't you call a slave "slave" or a Master "Master" even if you weren't intamately familiar with them? It's a matter of respect and good manners. That's like saying you have to earn respect. Respect is free, you should give it away until some loses it. Not showing good manners is disrespectful and speaks poorly of you . . . so why in the world wouldn't I address slave steve or slave jenny as "slave steve" or "slave jenny"?

I show civility, not respect for every single person I meet. Respect is an honor given to very few in my life. I can count on one hand who have that from me. And no I don't call every doctor "doctor" or every waiter, "waiter". A doctor is still a person like everyone else until they are MY doctor. All waiters usually get a hand gesture from me. And I don't call everyone who thinks he's a Master, "Master". Master to me is reserved for MY Master only. It's not a generic term to me, it's a personal one, just like slave. I am not a slave to everyone, just one. Yeah, I have a submissive personality but I'm not everyone's slave. I'm just a shy, reserved woman. Hell, I hate when people call me Miss or Mrs. I find it just weird since I'm neither and I was taught to use "Ms" when it is unknown or you know the person is widowed since I was always taught that is what Ms. means.

Other people I know I either use their last name "hey Finkelderfer", or their first name or just "hey, you".

I agree. There's a difference between courtesy and respect.

I do not call someone Doctor if I'm in a social situation and I never call a waiter "waiter".

I've been a waiter. If anyone ever referred to me as such ("Hi, I'm Mike and I'll be your waiter tonight." - "Nice to meet you, Waiter.") I would be radically offended...

I probably would have walked around with their food in the back of my pants before I brought it to them...and then told them about it as they were whiping the last bits of ass hamburger off their face. I have a handle and I took the time to tell it to you (or you looked at it when you checked out my profile)...fucking use it!

As for me; I use user names, nicknames, or actual names as denoted by the profile.

I wait tables now... Almost no one ever calls me waitress. And when they do, well. I don't give them an ass burger. But I spend half my shift daydreaming about it.
