On a rare day to myself I've spent it watching The Lion King, Bambi, 101 Dalmations with a few more to go and I feel so warm and fuzzy after it! Does anyone else get the same effect? Or am I the only person over 12 who still has Disney Days lol

I have a Disney Classics CD in my car at the moment. It's for the baby, honest.

The Little Mermaid and Aladdin are my faves. In fact one of my ringtones is "A Whole New World" (the movie version, not the radio version with Peabo Bryson)

I think that fairy tales speak to the child in us.. the one that wishes for a just world. I love them and watch them as a form of escapism though at the same time I realize the fallacy of the Disney fairy tale and I think that Anne Sexton did a beautiful job of exposing the myth in them. Her book of re-imagining is called Transformations and I highly recommend it but I really am a walking contradiction lol

When I was a teenager, I would take my little sister and brother to see Disney movies, so that I could enjoy them and still have culpable deniability :)

Now, I don't worry about what I'm too old for. I just throw on the red had and purple dress and go out and jump around in the rain and mud puddles (after watching Disney )

Haha after my kids got too old to use the whole "yes, I have to take the kids to see this" (even though it was I that dragged them along) I became very comfortable going by myself. I just watched Brave recently and loved it.

This is a fun thread!

I was fortunate to find a DVD player which still has a working VCR, and the local donation stores have a lot of the old Disney VHS tapes that cost very little.

If I were worried about my image I could claim they are for visiting friends' kids, but I prefer to just say I enjoy what I like.

One of my favorites is "Peter and the Wolf", although I like most of the older stuff and some new things. It was very interesting to see clips from "Dumbo" in the comedy
"1941".

Phil
