Monarchs is an invite only group and Kane (owner of the Lair is one of the founding members).

Threshold has some good lectures and discussion groups. Insight at the Lair is usually pretty good. But, in reality the Los Angeles area has a ton of activities: socials, discussion groups, demos, and even whip practice in the park.
