Again... why do you need..........

It's late and I don't want to get into it all right now but the second amendment and paramilitary arms protect us from crooked politicians.

Give me a moment ...

I'm still trying to recover, that was quite a laugh.

I've never owned a gun, but if all it took was the populace having enough AK-47s to prevent the invasions that nobody wanted, and the bank bailouts, then I'm a discount AK-47 dealer- yesterday.

Anyway, I appreciate your saying that Clinton's indiscretion was not worthy of impeachment. I'll say to Aswad; it was ridiculous for Clinton to be dragged in front of the Congress (the US freakin' Congress) to have to answer to such a personal and trivial matter in the first place. No waste of a session of the law-making body of the US for that silly crap, then no lies.

Anyway, lovmuffin; I think Nixon deserved to be impeached (by the House), but not convicted by the Senate, which would have happened, which is why he resigned before impeachment. The Republican hierarchy never liked Nixon, which is why they let him hang. He just did not have a good personality and people did not like being around him, and he had his own way, which the hierarchy didn't like at all. But the rank-and-file Republican voters of the day wanted Nixon, not whoever else the Republicans had in mind. That always pissed them off.

I don't envy anybody who had to deal with Kissinger.

In other words Edwynn the intent behind the 2nd amendment when it was written was for citizens to have the means to overthrow a tyrannical government. I simply was stating that in other words.

Are you still operating under the impression that this is possible ?

Absolutely it's possible. I doubt the government is going to send fighter jets in to mow down neighborhoods or bomb us out with tanks. As long as we retain the right to bear arms then it's not likely we will ever need it for it's intended purpose. One would also has to assume military and police personnel would be willing to mow down citizens.

I dont believe anyone needs to own an automatic weapon. Bambi isnt that hard to bring down.

I dont believe anyone needs to own a semi-automatic weapon... same reason.

I dont believe anyone should ever be allowed to sell a gun from their trunk/home/garage/business without having to do a background check.

I believe the gun show loop holes should be closed.

I dont buy into the excuse that because someone will find a way around the system, the system doesnt need fixing.

The 2nd amendment isn't about hunting.

Its no longer about a well armed militia either.

So far the restrictive legislation on gun rights that is law of this land is republican in nature, so nothing else in the hysterical rant would follow, fella.

How so ?

Of course it is. It is about citizens being able to overthrow their government if necessary. That is a form of self-defense.

tazzygirl -> RE: How will the left react, if Obama loses? (11/6/2012 4:17:07 PM)

At the time it was written, you do realize that the government did not provide guns for the defense of this country? That each man had to provide his own gun if he was called into service?

The 2nd amendment isn't about hunting and automatic weapons a severely restricted.

The 2nd amendment isn't about hunting. Semi autos have been around for over 100 years. They'll be around for 100 more.

I dont believe anyone should ever be allowed to sell a gun from their trunk/home/garage/business without having to do a background check.

Good luck with that one.

If people are finding a way around the system then it's not really fixed.

People have been finding a way around the system for a 100 years. And its not allowed to be fixed.

Huge difference.

I am glad you are confident. History teaches you otherwise, even your own.

Some military would be happy to uphold the government, some would not. Thats how civil wars start.

Nah, I have found the argument, you find the understanding.  And dont poull the stupid asswipe that Clinton signed it into law.  Look at the votes, who controlled the congress and the senate, who pushed it (reagan, and old lady brady).

It was un-vetoable.  It would be like saying that Ronald Reagan singlehandedly destroyed the Soviet Union.

It would be like saying the civil war started or was about slavery from the Unions perspective.

At the moment, Zomney is the only candidate to overthrow a tyrannical government, mostly by bankrupting it.

I fail to see where "assault weapons" enter the picture.

So tell us...what is it about ?
Are you another one who is going to suggest it is to protect us from a tyrannical government ?
Do you really think outraged citizens can do so should the U.S.Armed Forces decided to back such a government?
Do you not see how ridiculous such a statement is ?

They click on the definition of militia.. without realizing the US had ONLY a militia for defense in the early days of the Constitution.

I don't understand the meaning of your post. If Zomney has bankrupted the government then I can see why assault weapons wouldn't enter into it but how are you coming up with the first line ?

OK then, just who is it that decides when this is actually "necessary"?

Let me guess; the ones with the fully automatic weapons.

Here's the news: there is nothing anywhere near 'tyranny' the least bit necessary anymore, hasn't been for 30 years.

People do what they're told, which is to buy video games, vote for one 'former' CEO or chief lobbyist after another from oil, pharma, Monsanto, Goldman Sachs, Haliburton, whatever; and we obey.

I ask again; with drooling complacency and compliance such as that, who the f*ck needs 'tyranny' anymore.?

No citizens, or groups of citizens, is currently able to bring down any tyrannical government in the USA without having total consent of the military-industrial-media complex, or the support of the Senate. I doubt that will change for the forseeable future, and "assault weapons" will make no difference in that regard. Zomney might have had a decent chance at taking down the government, by bankrupting it, but he got Obama's foot up his ass, so he won't be doing that now.

Is that a clearer explanation?

IWYW,
