Union member in New Jersey have been certified or are apprenticing to certify in accordance with this law.   The card guarentees it.

Non-union yokels from Alabama are unable to certify to this by just waltzing the fuck in there.   And insofar as I read in those regulations, the certification board only has the power invested to waive these requirement for telecommunications gear work.  (low power).

You are still pwned.  No matter how much you refuse to become knowledgeable about.   Your fantasy is shattered.

As I said in an earlier post. The guys from the Gulf Coast have forgotten more about repairing hurricane damage than the Jersey Shore crew ever knew.

Decatur Al. is from my families part of the state, far northern Al. They likely know about as much about dealing with hurricane damage as any other crews from around the nation. They are notoriously bad in their home area though, week long outages after T storms etc.

Non-union power crews welcomed in NJ to help restore service, state says

New Jersey’s power companies are stressing today that they are accepting help from both union and non-union crews during the massive effort to restore power to those still in the dark in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The clarification comes after a utility company from Alabama said a six-man crew was headed to New Jersey on Wednesday, but turned back in Virginia after they said concerns were raised about whether New Jersey would accept help from the company’s non-union utility crew.

Non-union crews should not be concerned about coming to New Jersey to help bolster the efforts of New Jersey utility companies, officials said today.

“We are accepting any available resource,” said Karen Johnson, a spokeswoman for PSE&G.

“We are working with our union and have non union crews participating in our restoration efforts,” said Ron Morano, a spokesman for JCP&L. “We continue to accept support from out of state utility companies and contractors.”

Confusion arose after an Alabama television station reported yesterday that a non-union crew was turned away.

A statement issued today from Alabama-based Decatur Utilities said the company believes its crew would have had to agree to certain conditions to work in New Jersey, and pulled its crew back from a Virginia staging area as a result.

At no time was the crew “turned away” by anyone in New Jersey, the statement said.

So they never even made it to NJ.

Sort of makes the fellas triple pwned.

tazzygirl -> RE: UNION! (11/2/2012 12:33:39 PM)

lol.... no sorta about it.

Hillwilliam -> RE: UNION! (11/2/2012 12:36:01 PM)

"So they never even made it to NJ."

That's what the original article basically said. They got to the staging area in VA.
It looks like someone high up who knows about dealing with angry customers got on the phone to a few of the Shop Stewards and told them how it was GONNA be done.

Now, they're gonna pretend it never happened.

Straight from the horse's mouth:
http://www.decaturutilities.com/images/stories/DU/PDFS/Press_Release_%20Hurricane_Sandy.pdf

So they were only headed north to help one specific community and when their own delay resulted in that single community turning to others they went home. Something don't sound right (and it certainly is not union related).

Since the company in Decatur is non-union and it is their spokesman putting out the statement, I think retreat is going to be the better part of your valor at this moment.   Leave the slinking away to others.

Fold em, pard.  Don't go all in.

The crew's company outed themselves.

What is it exactly that you do not like about unions?

Crews from Decatur Utilities headed up there this week, but Derrick Moore, one of the Decatur workers, said they were told by crews in New Jersey that they can't do any work there since they're not union employees.

The above speaks for itself.

I am sure you would rather have a real doctor perform open heart surgury on you than someone who has not been certified, so your post seems to be at odds with your normally astute observations of reality[8|]

One can be certified as a Master Electrician without being a member of a union.

Many say that the unions are the guardians of the middle class. They don't seem to give much of a shit about those poor middle class fuckers sitting in the cold and dark.

The bottom line is that there is a lot of money to be made working up there putting infrastructure back together and those greedy fuckers want every red cent of it even it it means people have to freeze to death waiting.

In light of subsequent post now would be a good time for you to admit the ignorance of your post.

If  I'm a Decatur Utilities worker and they change their minds on this, I would tell them to go pound sand, literaly and keep driving south.

Why would you want that? Your post were sniviling about all the poor people who did not have power? Make up your mind do you want those people to suffer or not?

As most here on collarme know, I was a union member ( CWA ) for 34 years. This is one example why I no longer support them..

What other reasons do you have for not supporting unions?
