The problem is that people have two images, the one they show the world, the one they "should" be. And the actual one, they one they are.
I'm New Zealand borne , but like most kiwi's I popped over to London for my OE (Overseas Experience)
Somehow I worked as a photographer, which was almost world-class glamorous. But as a immigrant I lived in a "cheap" non glamorous flat in East London. East London was a "robust" hetro-normative area. Muslim vigilantes beat up prostitutes for being prostitutes. . Macho white males would hit anyone if their brain couldn't come up with a witty comeback. And due to the lead in the pipes and under funded education, there were a lot of short brains.
One of my flat mates, I'll call Red was a lesbian. Not a Lez. A proper hooked by the heart girl lover, in a hetro-or else multi-ethnic, urban neighborhood. As a kiwi it was merely ironic. But by local standards she thought it would result in curb stomping or rape, or one then the other. So she'd only go out when I did, so as her brown haired "brother" I could defend her heterosexual honor and her teeth against any outraged boyfriend who misinterpreted any innocent comments made in the lady's room.

Through work, I run into a local catalogue model called Louise. Louise is "straight".
Red (officially straight) tells me she has a fucking girl crush on Louise (officially straight).
Louise wants to escape Catalog purgatory, via fetish (hi CM) and is buying me drinks down the local *Denmark Arms), I suggest fetish lesbian with my make up artist as the other model.
