I agree...but I can respect other opinions and I try personally to change their perspective when I can.

Republicans have the brains.
They using something called "reasoning" when deciding situations., something that is totally lost on democrats.
They don't rely on chants and spells.

I'd imagine most of teh eeeevil liberal Democrats think that the reason the healthcare reforms are a fucking joke is because the Kenyan nobbled them and removed the single payer provision in the vain hope that the Republicans would vote for the reforms if they were crap.
Hopefully he'll know better if he's re-elected. Maybe not having to spend his second four years fawning and grovelling like a loved up Steppin' Fetchit in a gimp costume in the hope of getting a second term might give him the scope to grow a pair of balls and a spine and deal with the Republicans in the manner they've earned since 2009. I'm not holding my breath waiting for that, though.

I'd like him to appeal to the American people rather than either party. I would spend the time, and I mean a lot of time, explaining the new healthcare system and its benefits. Soothing the fears of small businesses and the citizenry over higher taxes and healthcare costs.

Then I would make guarantees to the public that as problems arise with the plan changes will be swift and bipartisan. Let people know that after a reasonable time the program does not work then it can be scrapped and a bipartisan committee can draft a new plan if necessary.

Convince the people and the politicians will have to fall in line or lose their seats.

"Reasoning" like this . . . ?

George Bush: 'God told me to end the tyranny in Iraq'

Sarah Palin: Iraq War 'God's Will'

If so, I can see why you put it in quotes.

As far as the Universal Health care system - hey- we're right there along with Africa. WE DONT HAVE IT. Oh and dont forget the health state of India with people dying on the streets with their skin rotting off from leprosy.

Just love it when I see the US regress more and more because of these bozos while the rest of the world just laughs.

,
Yup. Scratch below the rhetoric of 'freedom of choice' and 'personal responsibility' currently in fashion on the Right, and you will find the ugly emotions of fear, greed, selfishness and insecurity, often buttressed by considerable ignorance. Racism, that old staple of the Right, is a prime example of a socio-political phenomenon driven by fear and ignorance. There has been some research that backs up the claim that Right wingers are more driven by these emotions than others.

Please note that I am not suggesting that Right wingers are necessarily more consciously driven by these emotions than others. I am saying that it is more than a coincidence that if you reason from a basis of these emotions, you will arrive at the positions advocated by the Right, that Right wing positions are, at one level, the rationalisation of these emotions into political language.

Here was something I found interesting about how Romney thinks he will be helping the poor and his way of helping people get jobs. This so says it - its so funny how people are so snowballed by this guy - like hes some great business man that creates jobs. Yeah - if you like living in complete poverty.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Who on earth doesn't know that many working people are poor precisely because of poverty-level wages from a job? In the January 23, 2012 Republican primary debate in Tampa, Florida, Mitt Romney touted his work creating "middle-income" jobs through his companies, like Sports Authority and Staples.
We helped start Staples, for instance. It employs 90,000 people. These are middle-income people. There are entry-level jobs, too. I'm proud of the fact that we helped people around the country - Bright Horizons children centers, the Sports Authority, Steel Dynamics, a new steel company. These employ people, middle-income people.
In a September interview, Mitt Romney responded to ABC News host George Stephanopoulos's question, "Is $100,000 middle income," with the reply: "No, middle income is $200,000 to $250,000 or less."[6]
Putting these assertions together, one must ask: How many workers at Sports Authority and Staples are actually earning more than $100,000, let alone $200,000 to $250,000? The reality, as so many retail workers know all too well, is that the majority of employees at these companies earn poverty-level wages, and only a relative few climb into the ranks of management and even begin to approach this mythical "middle-income" status.[7]
Some will say Romney's ignorance about the poor is unique. Think again: On January 5, 2012, then-Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich blended racist and classist stereotyping, when he told an audience that he believes "the African-American community should demand paychecks and not be satisfied with food stamps."
A few days earlier, on January 1, rival candidate, Rick Santorum had said that he did not "want to make black people's lives better by giving them somebody else's money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money. And provide for themselves and their families."[8] Both of these men's statements contain the logical implication that those receiving food assistance are not working.

Did the republicans leave four people to die (including an ambassador) while flying off to Vegas?

Did a republican say, "we don't leave people behind" while on a photo-op, and forget to mention, oh yes, if you are in Benghazi, you are screwed?

Oh my, it was not a republican.

You might think that you are a bright girl, but sweetie, don't go there.

I think she is rather bright, but you sweetie are another story.
A sad story too [&o]

And yet there are scores of folks,a few right here at collarme, who feel they are wholly reasonable and yet this is their ideological brother.
How do they live with that ?

They justify it by wanting to give women the death penalty for having a miscarriage.

That's funny. I'm republican and have never wanted to give women the death penalty for having a miscarriage.

Edited to add...I don't want to pay for anyone else's healthcare or birth control. I also don't expect anyone to pay for mine.

I don't want to be paying for the highest health care costs in the world because people are too stupid to run the numbers and see that the US' health care costs are 50% higher than the highest cost universal health care system.

If it's worth it to you to pay 50% more (and expect everyone else to, in the process) for sake of not having the chance of one penny of it possibly mingled with other payees or recipients, then I think you've proven the OP's point. The issue is that you expect everyone else to pay this inordinately higher premium because of your own ignorance.

I don't want to pay such a high premium for other people's stupidity.

No of course not - dont be ridiculous. It was obviously Obamas, laughing and yucking it up flying on his way to Vegas.

erieangel -> RE: Do republicans even have a conscience? (11/5/2012 2:53:45 AM)

One of the things welfare reform did was tell the single mother she couldn't go back to school to learn a trade or get a degree through which she would be able to earn more money. Instead, it locked that single mother into working minimum wage jobs, allowing most of them to remain on medicaid and food stamps and in low income housing. How is this better?
