ORIGINAL: misanthropicdom Racists never think they're racist. I had a right wing friend write me and say "Why would you vote for someone you wouldn't want to live next door to?" and "What would be so wrong about having having a nice blond woman be the First Lady?". I pointed out that I live next door to a black woman, and that his comments were pure racism, which he immediately denied. Denial is a very big part of it. "I don't hate him because he's black, I hate him because (insert Fox News talking point here)." Right. Nice attempt at calling me a racist in a very passive-aggressive, typically lefty sheeple kind of way. The fact is; if I don't think someone is a good neighbor, I wouldn't vote for them, no. I live next door to a guy that I wouldn't vote for on a dare. He steals things from me, leaves trash on my side of the yard, and lets his kids run rampant at all hours of the night (affecting my sleep). Now, I couldn't tell that about him by looking at him but on his third day here, when he commandeered my recycling bin and painted his house number on it, I knew there were going to be problems. quote:
ORIGINAL: misanthropicdom I suggest that if there was a white man in the office, with identical policies, you would not call him a socialist. This aside from the idea that you seem to have no clue what a socialist is, are simply repeating something you heard someone else say. and ... here we have the assumption that I MUST be racist because if it were a white socialist, I'd be all for it. Sorry. You could not be more wrong about me. You could try but you would fail. quote:
ORIGINAL: misanthropicdom I've lived under a socialist/communist government. This ain't it. quote:
Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved.[1] Obama believes this. quote:
Socialism is not a discrete philosophy of fixed doctrine and program; its branches advocate a degree of social interventionism and economic rationalization, sometimes opposing each other. And fits this bill. quote:
Some socialists advocate complete nationalization of the means of production, distribution, and exchange; while others advocate state control of capital within the framework of a market economy. Obama is the latter. quote:
Social democrats propose selective nationalization of key national industries in mixed economies combined with tax-funded welfare programs; Libertarian socialism (which includes Socialist Anarchism and Libertarian Marxism) rejects state control and ownership of the economy altogether and advocates direct collective ownership of the means of production via co-operative workers' councils and workplace democracy He's the former. So on listed definitions, Obama is four out of four. Should you wish to move past socialism and into Marxist Communism, I personally think he fulfills 7 of 10 planks if you grade liberally. quote:
ORIGINAL: misanthropicdom And lastly, I'm sure it's been pointed out before, but your avatar has "Mormon" misspelled. Home schooled? No, that was in response to a poster here making a very thinly veiled statement (followed by a "just sayin") about Paul Ryan's masculinity and thereby suggesting that being a homosexual somehow negates someone's ability to be vice president. I guess discrimination doesn't only come from the right, after all. Peace and comfort, Michael
