Status: offline 		True, America is not officially a racist country, but there are an awful lot of racists crawling out of the woodwork every time Teh Kenyan gets a bit of press coverage. Mercifully they lost the election tonight, which puts their uber-purist Gottedamerung off for another four years. Sad to say, the only way to get rid of racists is the same way one gets rid of cockroaches: you have to break the breeding cycle.

The United States of America just reelected the President of the United States. Leave off the "black president" part and it sounds less racist.

Status: offline 		Not all Americans are racist, but racism is definitely a problem in this country. Just because a black man was re-elected doesn't negate that fact.

The problem with FDD is that he doesn't realize how the way he said it just came out real shitty.

Please accept the fact that these kinds of issues are important to people who don't understand what actually IS important... And I agree with what I believe you indicate: it goes to show that racism is far from dead when people can even THINK of this as something that is even remotely important, compared to what else is at stake...

I am married to a black wife from "the deep South", and if anyone thinks that racism is a dead issue down there, I can say for sure that they are either darn ignorant or have never been there. And Obama is certainly not contributing anything to making it go away...

yes, this election is a step in the right direction, but it's not going to automatically change race relations. that will take people disposing of their pre-conceived, often ignorant notions of what other races are like and expanding their worldviews. anything less is not enough.

Them claiming "rich white men" run the entire show is as blind as your claim that racism is now off the table forever. I believe the cry of it is at times used at times it should not be.. but there is no doubt that the cancer is still there.

I happen to think it is a LOT less than 50%.

But it is not 0%

And what remains...is still a reasonable thing to be concerned about.

So...if less than 50% of Americans are racists, that means racists are a minority group.

Does that mean that...they can now hate themselves too?

Status: offline 		FDD, I wish that were the case. This DID show that racists are still a minority in the US, but they're a vocal one and one that DOES exist.

Coincidentally, I just got a comment on one of my Fet pics last night. The pic shows me with my arms around my Caucasian sub and a black friend, and the comment was "you like that dark meat I see".
