Toppingfrmbottom -> i need a fat, a protien and a veggie in each meal. (11/7/2012 11:53:36 AM)

Breakfast I had two eggs cooked in a bit of vegitable oil, only enough to coat pan, 6 baby carrots and 1 bell pepper.
I figure the eggs are the protien.. the veggie oil could be the fat I suppose n then the veggies are the veggies. The veggies are raw.

The fat preferable is supposed to be un saturated, and a very healthy fat.

Am I doing good?

I do a protein and two veggies. No carbs, no sugar, no fats. I did chicken, baby spinach (raw) with that spray salad dressing, and green beans.

Not too bad. Just takes training your mind. I am about to kill someone over something sweet though. Grrrrr!

if you want sweet in your salad, go for raisins. or chunks of apple.

Yup. I also get my taste of sweet from red bell peppers. I find them sweet.

A good way to cook eggs is to poach them (put a splash of vinegar in the water). Other healthy proteins are vegetarian products like Quorn, or soya mince. Steaming is a healthy way to cook veggies as well.

Switch the vegetable oil to olive oil which is a good fat. (Your eggs also had a little fat, which is good) Carrots are moderately high in carbs, so you should switch to a green veggie like green beans or broccoli...or even go for something like black beans which have protein and high fiber.

I don't like my bell peppers or carrots cooked. I prefers to eat them raw strait from the package or shelf!

But yes I do steam veggies I don't want to eat raw.

Poached egg, on brown bread toast with grilled tomatoes for brekkie is good.

That does sound good. We don't have brown bread right now. But hes making a grocery run n my dad makes homemade whole wheat.

Tofu scrambled in a pita pocket with tomatoes, guacomole, and some flax seed. Good fats in guac or avocado.

is this a ketogenic diet you're going for?
I did this a few years back and lost 3 stone and I really dont miss the carbs at all.

There are 1000's of recipes for this sort of thing but if you're starting out i'd recommend just learning how to do Fish+Chicken well and in a variety of flavours.

send me a PM if you want some ideas.

regards

Maybe some fire roasted red peppers instead of the tomatoes. yum

For our budget I need stuff I buy and eat regularly. There's no room for buying specialty things like vegan foods or tofu and not liking them and there for wasting it.

Please get your Dad to make me some as well

Its something the personal trainer I had a free consultation with said I needed when we talked about nutrition.. I can have other things in the meal, but she said those 3 need to be in all meals.

sounds like chicken+fish is the perfect thing

Im from the UK but im guessing you'll have similiar products whereever you are.

For the meat any of these will do : beef / chicken (skinless if you can) / fish / game meats /
for the veg I always went for the bags of frozen veg that had a mixture of peas/beans/sweetcorn/carrots etc...
and as for oils there are some fancy ones around but if you want to avoid paying too much just go for anything thats on sale that isnt vegetable oil

regards

Dave
