You can look at the introduction threads as of late and see how newbies to the forums are torn apart for THEIR introductions.

On the entire first page of intros, the only one that had any snark is the FinDomme who used the intros to advertise her website.

Probably not. But I will say that there have been many instances where we have applauded new posters that have interesting things to say. Psychosubmission, Athena, Kitkat, LonDom61, AllisonWilder, etc...

How strange. New users who don't act like dipshits are welcomed, but people who act like dipshits are treated like dipshits. There must be something to this.

As for being malicious in doing this - I dont really think that is the motive, as much as its pointing out that this individual is climbing up the same tree.

i'm gonna disagree with you there. i've read enough posts at this point to know that's not always true.

Is a positive history brought up as often as a negative one?

Probably not. But I will say that there have been many instances where we have applauded new posters that have interesting things to say. Psychosubmission, Athena, Kitkat, LonDom61, AllisonWilder, etc...

This could be because the newbie is a serious idiot,

Most people here and in real life are idiots, imo (because if I don't say "imo" I will be told I'm mean [8D]}.

Stick to the first 12 posts past the OP (assuming it gets that far) and count by gender. It's not always going to be women, but yes, the majority of the time, it is. Statistically, Michael is correct. I won't apply rationale to mathematics, they aren't the same thing.

Yes, the majority will be women because the majority who post on the forums ARE women. Very few men post here. If you count the number of topics made on the forums too, you'll find the majority are women. If you count the number of threads with women being nice and informative, it will be women too.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 5:02:05 PM)

That isn't true Osidegirl.

There was a young male dom that got ripped to shreds and posts where deleted.
There was the findom.
There was another findom who posted and instead of welcomes she got oh it's that time of the mth and snarky comments like that.
There was also a blckbiker dom (i think was his nick) that got a lot of grief in his intro thread this past week.

Now if you could just find that link...

Of course your posts make me laugh. Even when your wit has been directed at me.

If new people don't like it here, fuck off. Yep, that's about as much sympathy as you'll get from me. This is an adult messageboard.

What does this being an adult message board have to do with people being rude, disrespectful and flat out attacking others?

Last I checked, it's the year 2012. If people haven't grasped the concept of how people behave on a messageboard by this point, they never ever will. In the 12 years I have been regularly using the internet, I have been a member of many vanilla messageboards who behave the same way to morons.

The problem isn't us. It's them

Oh, and what Hilly said. You can't have this many sadists and not expect them to enjoy being mean. [;)]

TheLilSquaw -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 5:06:58 PM)

I've been on many message boards, including this one for yrs.
I will say although they all come with some snark and comments I see more of the blood lust from posters here. It is def. a mob mentality at times.

absolutchocolat -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 5:13:17 PM)

all i'm seeing is a bunch of justifications for being shitty to people and no real reasoning behind it. which is fine, but call it what it is.

LonDom61 -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 5:13:20 PM)

I have jumped on a few in my time. i think by far, for me at least, the likeliest group to target is whiny male Doms.

Am I more likely to pile on once there is blood in the water? Or am I reacting the same way (or rather, in my own unique fashion) to the same stupidity?

Probably some of both.

I expect, if they are old enough to be here and (presumably) smart enough to get to this side and, if they have a problem or dilemma, sufficiently with it to post a query in hopes of finding a solution...or six varieties of 10 solutions...

...that they are also mature enough to remain engaged, appreciate & acknowledge good input. React as little as possible to anything they might consider negative. And, if the advice from the more experienced folks makes sense...to ACT on it.

If they do so, I would venture they seldom get snarkified.

But in my experience, even with a preponderance of good advice, they
- stay & do nothing concrete;
- stay & do nothing...and kvetch; or
- bugger off after 1 or 2 posts

======================================

The first rule of Snark Club is...you do not talk about Snark Club.

The second rule of Snark Club is...stupid. And the OP who posted it was a douchekayak.

=======================================
Not you, Janah. I like you. I just thought this variation
on your tagline would be funny. In context.

I went through the entire first page and read every thread...

The others to which you refer are on the second page...so, yes, what I said is true.

There are 20 threads on each of those pages, so 40 posts on the first two pages. Calling 5 out 40 posts a "blood lust" may be a little extreme.

absolutchocolat -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 5:14:58 PM)

a lot of the posts that are really shitty get deleted. we all know that by now.

I think CM should start another forum called "For Sensitive Ones Only" for those who get their feelings hurt easily. This would solve a lot of problems since the only people who could post there are those who don't live in reality or they never leave their homes because they are too sensitive or it's their first time on the internet, ever.

If someone wishes to consider me part of a clique, so be it. Doesn't bother me. I've been called the "ice queen" more than one...many more times. I'm just honest. I try to be nice the first time around until the poster shows his/her true colors. Once that comes out, no holds barred...unless you're in "Introductions" and only because we're not allowed to be anything other than "sweet" and "nice".

Are you telling me that I am never going to get my rainbow colored unicorn, no matter how many posts I make?

MEANIE!!!!!

Sorry, you don't actually get the unicorn, but you do get.....

sexyred1 -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 5:27:24 PM)

Give me a break. The one thing I detest is when people call strangers on a message board, a clique.

There is no clique. There are people who either know each other because they met or spoke off line or they gravitate towards someone's words or they agree with them alot or find them humorous.

I am kind of sick of these threads that say we attack newbies. Sorry, not true at all. If someone is an idiot and argumentative about the advice THEY ask for, or they are consistently delusional or ask some idiotic question that a child would not ask, then yes, I will sometimes be snarky.

I actually hold back as well because I don't want a gold email.

On the other hand, when anyone seems to really need help, advice, comfort or posts a thoughtful topic, I am right there to help or be nice.

But the truly surprising thing, is that people are actually analyzing what goes on in a forum, that people are utilizing statistics (men vs. women percentages).

Really? Do you have that much time and investment in a free site that you need to do that?

And, who is anyone to tell others how to behave? We are all ostensibly adults here.

I come here for entertainment only. If I was a newbie, I would not be learning from a message board. Yes, there are those who can impart knowledge, but as all knowledge in this arena comes from personal experiences, don't take it all that seriously.

FR

the fact that the thread that sparked this one is now closed speaks volumes. deuces.

ETA: i didn't use facts and figs, and i didn't tell anyone how to behave. i just gave commentary and a differing opinion on the OP. not sure why that was addressed to me, red.

So John got his wish after all. Kinda.

Can you edit comments in a closed thread? If so, he will pull a bunch, if not all, of his. shrugs.

'Cause it was...a fast reply. Not everyone says "fast reply". I think in all the times I've used the fast reply message box, I've maybe identified it as such a couple of times.
