If we have to dispense pharmaceuticals to them, I'm pushing for Thorazine.

This could be because the newbie is a serious idiot,

Most people here and in real life are idiots, imo (because if I don't say "imo" I will be told I'm mean [8D]}.

Stick to the first 12 posts past the OP (assuming it gets that far) and count by gender. It's not always going to be women, but yes, the majority of the time, it is. Statistically, Michael is correct. I won't apply rationale to mathematics, they aren't the same thing.

Yes, the majority will be women because the majority who post on the forums ARE women. Very few men post here. If you count the number of topics made on the forums too, you'll find the majority are women. If you count the number of threads with women being nice and informative, it will be women too.

I wouldn't say women necessarily post more than men, but it might be fair to say some areas have a heavier weight of one gender over another (looking at P&R). I wouldn't make blanket assumptions about the boys down there either. [;)] It's a rationale that doesn't speak to the statistics; one might influence the other, but not define.

I won't be one of the people to call you mean for having an opinion, either, for what that's worth.

no not at all
I am defending my self from attack..

I don't attack people ..

Just defending myself
from an attack thats all..
from all the people's attacks on me

I am the attackee
she is the attacker

see the difference?
easy to see..

I dont go off attacking people
on here when I am not provoked
she does..
There is a difference

Take care

The whole "I'm defending myself" line is no excuse. You can just walk away. But you attack as well, which is just fanning the flames, so to speak.

RemoteUser -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 6:28:41 PM)

As a blanket statement on an underlying theme throughout this thread: I'd rather understand than judge. Even if the person is wrong, why? Where did that misconception come from? If it needs to be corrected, shouldn't it be done at the root of the cause, and not the symptoms?

I would gladly be among the first to support freedom of speech. If we're going to be analytical about it, though, we can't just lay it at the OP's feet and say it justifies anything thrown out there. All words have consequence, and when it comes to the pack versus the individual, maybe that's what we're dealing with here: the group mentality enforcing the status quo.

It's all conjecture anyhow, and I agree that sadists will play with new meat. Doesn't make it any more right or wrong than an OP putting out a bad idea.

fucktoyprincess -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 6:29:46 PM)

I think there could be more civility at times, but again, we have an anonymous forum for discourse on the Internet, and that tends to result in certain behavior patterns.

Oddly, I find the Politics and Religion forum to be one of the better forums as most of us are thick skinned enough to just bandy about ideas. I feel there is much richer discussion in that forum than almost anywhere else. People are tough on each other - but around their ideas. Not just attacking them personally. And while sometimes P&R descends into personal attack, I feel that is far outweighed by the sheer volume of excellent discussion there. I feel there is (oddly?) more personal attack on some of the other forums, particularly relative to the discussion. Not sure why, but that's my perception. Undoubtedly, I shall be attacked personally for even stating this. [:D] [sm=2cents.gif]

But, all things jimson leave evidence, especially when reduced and thusly concentrated. Though i'm putting a lot of faith in the work ethic of the person doing the autopsy.

Yup. I've never understood why the people that think everyone here is horrible, keep coming back. Why stay someplace you don't like?

Those are True masochists.

kiwisub12 -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 6:49:15 PM)

The threads where snark fests occur are where the OP makes a stupid or poorly thought out statement - and then proceeds to defend it in the face of negativity. I have seen at least two threads desnark immediately when the OP retracted his statements, and carry on like a regular person.

The threads that flame out have someone who defends his opinion in the face of people who are trying to correct him - and the civility goes south - rapidly.

I've been known to indulge in snark, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I do think that some people enjoy snarking a bit too much and back posters into a corner, and don't relent. I also think that some posters say things that they might retract, but the snarkfest gets too intense. However, how are you going to regulate that. Increased moderation would certainly stop it, but then the site would be completely different. seems a bit of self regulation would be in order for posters.

This is a pretty broad stroke of the brush. There is so much more to this site than a hand full of people you may or may not agree with. It's a public forum. It all goes to everyone. People may not like that I take up for someone, and admittedly, sweep a pretty broad stroke myself. None of us are perfect by any means.

All of us, newbies, idiots, meanies, morons, nice ones, everyone, has a right to enjoy this forum.

kiwisub12 -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 6:53:27 PM)

Actually, if there wasn't someone who can be contentious, this site could possibly be a bit boring. A nice snarky thread makes for a great read........ [:D]

poise -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 6:56:00 PM)

There have been times where I have been more sarcastic than I should have been, and I suppose that could come across as mean. However, these are my own individual responses, and they aren't motivated by any other poster here, so I can't say I'm in with whatever imagined in crowd there might be.

DeviantlyD -> RE: So are we a bunch of meanies? (11/10/2012 6:56:01 PM)

I think it's a valid question: why stay somewhere you don't like? I don't see that as a broad brush stroke sort of statement.

Given the comment OsideGirl was responding to (mine) I don't understand why you would support someone who is using the weak argument of his making an attack being a form of "defense".

FR

Hey, I am a mean and nasty, sadistic, bitch.

I also love bloodletting on fresh meat. The more they squeal, the more fun it is.

Deal.
