You know, the experts that never ran a business and would never chance THEIR money on a business startup! But know all about 'cause they waited on tables or washed dishes between semesters! Then 18,500 Hostess employees would still have a job. 18,500 Employees arent out of a job because of people on this forum. 18,500 employees are out of a job because a corporation didnt handle its business. No, 18,500 are out of a job because Union demands killed the goose that laid the golden eggs! Let me make this real simple. Lets assume we have a "flea market" with tables from different countries that have goods they produce, priced at the cost to make, along with a reasonable profit. It would take about half an hour to discover the US table would not be selling much, and to add insult to inury, the people manning the US table would be buying goods from the other countries tables! We live in a global market now. Get over it. Putting signs that say, "US goods cost more because we pay workers more so they can buy boats, motorcycles, and second homes," will not induce customers to buy our more expensive goods! OK, we get it that the 8.5 million out of jobs do to the economic troubles brought about by the financial industry evicting millions of people from their homes escaped your notice. Got it. But now the travails of the pizza industry trouble you deeply. It also seems to have escaped your notice that every other 'developed' country has universal healthcare, the US being the sole laggard, there. And funny you should mention the global market, where Germany kicks US hiney on a daily basis, even with a universal healthcare plan, mostly unionized workers, and unquestionably better paid workers. They find customers to buy their superior, though more expensive goods. The US can not continue to get by on being a 'trailer park nation,' an 'invasion nation,' and a 'trinket capitalism' economy and expect the rest of the world to buy our inferior goods, at whatever wage price.
