It's just like those fantasies where Pamela Anderson is blowing you. You open your eyes and "poof"... she wasn't there. Maybe this "atheist uprising" is like that.

I wouldn't let that nasty bitch anywhere near my dick, F, but maybe you should check up on this.

Now we know that atheists get their panties in a bunch over Christmas, but shouldn't a holiday established specifically to give thanks to the Divine bother them even more?

To all those people who like to say there's no such thing as a stupid question, Rich has proven you oh so wrong.

Thanks, Lucy, from a very casually Deistic American with a fondness for pagan sacraments.

Not something I'd support, but if it came to that, I'd be in better shape than Liz Warren.

You're so wholesome.  I have read nothing that makes me actually think she would either, hence "fantasy"... But more to the point. I had no idea Fargle was an atheist. His complaint is about a Christian Holiday. Washington's proclamation deliberately left out because of Washington's close ties to the Episcopal Church and there were many who wary of it becoming a national church.

And in New England. the December 3 day feast entailed a good bit more than a celebration of "Almighty God". They were grateful for the company of those who didn't believe in God. At least not in the sense they were used to.

Here's what Edward Winslow wrote in his journal about the first Thanksgiving:

"Our harvest being gotten in, our Governour sent foure men on fowling, that so we might after a speciall manner rejoyce together, after we had gathered the fruits of our labours ; they foure in one day killed as much fowle, as with a little helpe beside, served the Company almost a weeke, at which time amongst other Recreations, we exercised our Armes, many of the Indians coming amongst us, and amongst the rest their greatest king Massasoyt, with some ninetie men, whom for three dayes we entertained and feasted, and they went out and killed five Deere, which they brought to the Plantation and bestowed on our Governour, and upon the Captaine and others. And although it be not always so plentifull, as it was at this time with us, yet by the goodness of God, we are so farre from want, that we often wish you partakers of our plentie."

Ya think maybe there's a little more inclusion along for the ride?

I enjoy watching things go flying way over your head, F, especially when you assume you understood a reference that was in a reply to someone else, who understood it perfectly.

What's that? Just cause I discounted your "I'm a bigger native American than Liz Warren" blather?

Keep on spanking it H. Something will come of it eventually.
Maybe

No, because you chose to insert yourself into a conversation with someone I may disagree with frequently, but who doesn't resort to ignorance based childish personal shots every time she gets her little hand slapped.

Grow up, or go back away.

Nope, the thing is Rich, people want to celebrate holidays.

I haven't seen the endless threads started by atheists expounding on why they don't believe in GOD, lately!

What's up with that? Are they too busy celebrating?

Yep....for the most part.....99&44/100th to be exact .....the belly-aching and squealing about the holidays.... comes from the rightie-whightie-oh-I`m-a-victim-war-on Christmas-weirdos...

rich`s ilk.

Fargle isn't an atheist. He's Judaism's answer to Pat Robertson.

Well the liberal athiests might not like them, but I doubt the religious liberals will care.

You do realize that religion isn't a right only thing, right?

I mean you can't really be that stupid, right?
