Ahhh of course no answer, so you support voter suppression? Have a better answer??other than the GOP saying it was to stop minorities from voting??? as they did..or did you miss that????

Your blind eye is more of the cause for accepted racism then the eye of the people calling it out...In case you have not heard.."the truth will set you free" and "all men are created equal" (though not for those voting for the DEMS) to say racism is caused by the people who call out racism, shows how blind YOU are....

And your inability to comprehend what he said shows how much anyone should pay attention to what you say. Now just for shits and giggles why don't you quote where he said there was no race problem or that he supports voter suppression.

subspaceseven -> RE: Stand you rground ..again in FL (11/30/2012 1:01:51 PM)

So when the people of a state vote in a person who passes laws they do not believe in, yet continues to vote them in to office, who is to blame...cause many on here blame the voters for who gets elected...unless I missed something....

So voters have no say in who gets elected or the laws passed?????? Gosh...no taxes for the rich then...make only the poor pay...look at voting...seems to be a concern of many..according to the GOP, no taxes for the wealthy

"Because people live in a state where the politicians are idiots, does that mean all the people there have to be racists?" So for all the BS coming from both sides, the voters have no responsibility??? Just the people with the money????

I took this to the extreme..but I hope you see my point, we elect who creates and passes the laws..

This law is stupid, it needs to be removed or rewritten so people can't use it like they use to use the old I'm crazy can;t send me to prison laws.....

MissAsylum -> RE: Stand you rground ..again in FL (11/30/2012 1:04:16 PM)

My stance isn't emotional.

Being disrespected and feeling the need to end a life is based off emotion.

Fear does not equal respect.

Your assertion is invalid.

you're right, but on a larger scale this is a sign of change for the better. I don't expect you to agree on an emotional level, but maybe this is how modern young people need to be taught respect. the old way doesn't work anymore.

ETA: wasn't clearly written out.

Why would I need proof of voter fraud to think it is a good idea to have to prove you are who you say you are? With or without fraud I think it is a good idea.

Because not only is this an increase of wasted government time, but also government money for something they claim is happening, yet wont even investigate to prove is happening.

They have asked me for id to vote for as long as I can remember. Doesn't seem to be an issue here. Takes about 30 seconds to pull it out and have them look at it. Why is that such a problem?

Have you looked up the stats for "stand your ground" stats on wht vs wht or blk vs blk???? shootings.. give it a peek.....seems to be close to zero..seems to only be used when it is one race shooting another...

Absolute total bullshit. One of the major holes in the Florida SYG law has been that it has unintentionably enabled young thugs involved in gang shootouts to legitimately claim self-defense.

About half of the voting population voted in the last Presidential election. Who is in office doesnt always correlate to who is racist. We get into trouble when we say all or none.

Some people vote for.... some against. I have yet to see a vote for public office that was a complete landslide with no votes going for the other side. I could be wrong, I just have never seen it. Have you? If not, then your point is moot.

Yes you did, which makes it extremely hard not to reply with snark.

I dont agree with the law either.... but it is the law. And hate crimes come from the federal level, having nothing to do with state law.

1) I never said it was a problem. In fact, I have said I would like to have it myself.

2) I did say that this was causing an increase in government time and money. Thought you believed we should be cutting that back?

3) I dont believe in making laws to prevent something that isnt happening. Another waste of government time and money.

you're right. any naturally empathetic human would agree with you. but what I'm saying is separate from that. I think it's a sign that our castrated society is beginning to regenerate its lost testicles

tazzygirl -> RE: Stand you rground ..again in FL (11/30/2012 1:11:11 PM)

Interesting... what are the voter ID requirements for your state? Michigan, yes?

subspaceseven -> RE: Stand you rground ..again in FL (11/30/2012 1:11:23 PM)

Huh, you quote me but not what I was responding to...never mind

I'm more then sure K can support his views, though we do often not see eye to eye, I take the time to read and express my op compared to his when expressed.

Such is life, though if he was playing loud music in the car next to me, I would not shoot, I'd just drive away, down the road and never think of it again....as I think he would...

Where have I ever said we should be cutting that back?

I don't see where it takes a lot of time to pull out an id and I am pretty sure there was no money involved when I did it last election day.

Is that before or after all the politicians get their kids out of trouble growing up, teaching them to circumvent the laws with enough power and money.

Hon, for you to believe this is a "progressive" problem .... its laughable.

Ah, you are thinking too narrowly.

Time and money to the governments. The added time to research and look for old birth certificates, to document those who never had a BC to begin with. The cost of free ID's for those who cant afford one. The man power alone to do all this for an election where there is no voter fraud shown.. and in the case of PA, they didnt even bother to look... its ridiculous.

MissAsylum -> RE: Stand you rground ..again in FL (11/30/2012 1:18:09 PM)

Again- it has nothing to do with me feeling that way emotionally.
In fact, its quite the opposite.

If I were to shoot somebody in the face because I don't like what they said to me, that is me acting purely out of emotion, and not thinking logically.

Logically- this person means nothing to me, or how I live my day to day life. I probably won't see them again, and if otherwise, i surely don't have to speak to them, or acknowledge that they even breathe.

Anybody can shoot a gun, it defiantly does not mean our society has regained a supposed backbone.

Really read this

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/criminal-justice/is-there-racial-bias-in-stand-your-ground-laws/

Seems facts are against you and still being found out... From the FBI report...but hell race nothing to do with it, just that whites are 354% more likely to be found justified in killing a blk person then the other way around

"Roman also found that Stand Your Ground laws tend to track the existing racial disparities in homicide convictions across the U.S. — with one significant exception: Whites who kill blacks in Stand Your Ground states are far more likely to be found justified in their killings. In non-Stand Your Ground states, whites are 250 percent more likely to be found justified in killing a black person than a white person who kills another white person; in Stand Your Ground states, that number jumps to 354 percent."

The way I see it, if voter fraud is possible under our system then it's happening.

Count on it.

and for you, presumably a grown woman, to spew standard Youtube level leftist attacks on "the establishment" that feeds, supports, and incentivizes the creation of the rowdy youth I'm talking about is actually sad. no one is talking about rich politicians. that's not what we're discussing sweety. follow along.

Presumably? And you speak of the lack of respect? You try and make this out to be a progressive induced problem when its been going on longer than time itself. Or is it just ok when its the rich kids doing it, but now that its all the kids doing it, its wrong. Btw, sweetcheeks, you will notice I wasnt the one who mentioned party affiliation, you were. GOP, Dem, Independent... all are guilty of the "pay as you fuck up" system.

if you consider that on average, US blacks are also much more likely to commit a violent crime in the first place, it makes sense. there's no reason to assume racism in the system is to blame when all the signs point elsewhere.
