I would prefer you explain what TOS rules they are not following.

It's worth remembering the context thing: I've had mods asking me what this that or the other word means when I'm on approval. I suppose that's an upshot of having moderators sourced entirely from the 'States, but it does still make you wonder if they're going to be fully competent to deal with the fact that non American anglophones are often going to have idioms that differ from their own.

Context doesn't matter for the N word here. Which seems to be an Americanism.

I think I've only used that word once here, though.

IWYW,

Guess what?.
In TOS, The 3 links on netiquette contained within TOS and the old writings of Mods 1 and 2.

There is absolutely nothing that mentions this, much less makes it against guidelines.

They "made the rule up" on the spot.

Powergamz1 -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/7/2013 11:56:16 AM)

Nice try. Racial slurs aren't 'idioms'.

These are both just examples, of course. "White trash", like "kike", is treated differently, which is in line with US culture, as noted. Let's not even get into the number of different derogatory terms used for other groups, or the ones that aren't just a single word (and thus not a problem, because it's "amen" that matters, not "may it be so"; magic).

You'd rather I didn't refer to people who can't spell "colour" and don't know what pants are as anglophones at all?

When did I say anything about racial slurs? I'm talking about British slang.

It's not the fact that TOS isn't followed. It's the things that are not in TOS that are suddenly 'violations' because someone doesn't like it.

As I said earlier, if you're cruising down the interstate on a nice sunny traffic free day at 65 MPH in a 65 MPH zone, what do you do if a trooper stops you and writes a ticket saying "I don't care what the limit is, you shouldn't be doing 65 here. I want people to do 50. Your court date is wednesday at 9AM. Have a nice day."?

Moonhead -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/7/2013 12:00:53 PM)

The line that divides "abuse" from "snark" is particularly porous, as far as that one goes, isn't it?

do we have any guidelines as to how long that lasts? only there must be threads that have been pulled, but then someone starts one on exactly that topic some time later.

that is a very stupid thing to say since we are not supposed to post on threads more than 3 months old from the date of the last post. we are told to open a new thread. so how is anyone to actually know that a topic of conversation is now banned? were you shown a place where there is now a list of banned topics?

A list of banned topics would actually be quite handy, I'd have thought.

I agree!
We aren't mind readers, so if a topic or word is banned and it's not listed in the TOS how are we supposed to know?

Unless their is a list of banned / not allowed items some where else that can be accessed by users.

There are no guidelines needles.
It was a made up rule. It did not and does not exist but I supposedly 'violated it'.
How can one violate a rule that does not exist?

This has been my point for months but there are some who are being deliberately obtuse and playing the "what if what if what if what if" game.

1. We have a written TOS
2. Follow it
3. If it isn't forbidden by TOS, don't start making things up to send people letters about.

It's ludicrous that words that can be used in the same context in a church, classroom or parent/teacher conference can't be used here on a 'supposedly' adult kink site.

Talk about the finer points of nailing someone's cock to a pine board to hold him still while you carve your name in his ass with a knife and prepare him to have your arm shoved up his asshole to the elbow all you want but God forbid you tell someone who can't read or write they are 'illiterate'.[8|]

tazzygirl -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/7/2013 12:17:59 PM)

!. We have a written TOS

2. In that TOS, it plainly states it is not all inclusive

3. You agreed to that TOS, including that part, when you signed up for your account and each time you log in.

Does that give some self appointed hall monitor the authority to make up the rules to suit themselves?
Where will it end?
Is nappy, graham crackers and milk scheduled for 3PM today?

Im still waiting for your answer to this.
