ORIGINAL: DesFIP I agree with NV. Saying that you're a sadist doesn't mean you can go around assaulting anyone you want. That would be relevant if the posting of a missive in a thread was an imposition which could not be avoided. However it isn't. One can simply skip over the offending post or hide the user in question. This thread contains a bunch of utter fucking nonsense which skips around the real issue and hides behind legalistic bullshit. quote:
The issue of consent is important. If NV, or I, or anyone else doesn't want to get smacked by you, and you do it anyway, in real life we call the cops. Online, that's the mods job. Nobody's getting smacked. It's a discussion and there's absolutely no reason - none - for one group to arbitrarily specify how, not just that discussion, but all discussions proceed. quote:
Just because you're a sadist Hilly, doesn't mean you want to be attacked by others. And the more that kind of behavior is tolerated, the more people stop posting. Bullshit. P&R was a flame-fest and was more active than the rest of the boards put together. quote:
Which leads the site to die. The site dies when nobody can debate without someone trying to impose censorship and their own personal standards of behaviour. quote:
And since it's a privately owned site which is trying to make money, obviously they don't want that. Honestly... they don't give a shit. The message boards are more trouble than they're worth and their only value is to draw in the curious newbies. They give the illusion of community and so provide the search engines something to grab onto. That's all we really are to the site owners - content generators for the google indexer. The problem here is not about standards of civility or any other such nonsense. It's about one vocal minority of regulars trying to assert control over the rest of us. Their method of asserting control is to consistently cry to momma every single time someone doesn't follow their self-imposed idea of how discourse should be conducted. It's a sickening display of political correctness - stunningly ironic in a community which flourishes outside mainstreams notions of what is permissible. The trouble is they're friends with the moderators and so the moderators randomly make up rules to try and satisfy the controlling urges of their net-friends. Their idea of moderating the boards is to respond every time a critical mass of these fucktards complains in unison. THAT is why these boards are dying. Because the foundation upon which any notion of BDSM community is built - the ability to express yourself in the way you see fit - is stomped on by clueless moderators with no idea of how a thriving community operates. This place is stale. Debate is stifled and one-true-wayism is shoved down the throats of anyone who dares to present an opinion contrary to the moderators' little net-friends. All of these idiotic suggestions will fail because they're founded upon the ludicrous idea that this current level of excessive moderation is wrong in its implementation, rather than acknowledging the simple reality that it's utterly misguided in intent. All I can say in catching up... The fact that this thread is as long as it is and the bulk of complaint is about moderation The fact that I actually agree with the bulk of this poster's comments on THIS thread The fact that this has been possibly one of the most active threads on the site and likely thee most outside of some p&r bullshit I've not paid attention to Noooooooooooo..........there's nothing wrong with the way things are being run now!!! Regardless of what anyone says, it is a business. A business that is suffering the same thing the one I work for has for nearly a decade. The company I work for, the owner, never listens either. Just makes excuses as to why change is not possible. Hasn't continued to grow as the customers needs change. Right now, sales figures are HALF what they were when I started in 2001. My last day there is February 1. If this company, Collarchat, doesn't adapt, if the excuse for lack of change is as I've read, too expensive, not enough moderators, etc etc etc.......then they are not managing their business properly and that business will fail. Guaranteed. I am sorry, but lack of personnel and lack of funds is not a valid excuse. Either you run your business properly, by meeting the demands of your clients, or give up, sell, close down. And OceanSide.........apparently we are just supposed to give them all lollies and pats on the head. Regardless.
