Well, I'm disappointed. The intro thread where a guy asked if women still wear heels and stockings got deleted.

He asked, we answered, he insulted all the women...and then he was given exactly what he wanted and the thread was removed.

~FR~

I think we have some meat from all of this in the questions asked by Aswad. Maybe it can be linked and sent to VAA or upper management to give some information.

Look at things now, they seem to be somewhat constructive. Wonder how that happened ;)

VideoAdminChi -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/9/2013 6:20:55 PM)

I will send that one to VAA and welcome an Executive Summary of additional points that were made in this thread.

CHi, what about the winning lotto numbers for each member for the week and the chocolate chip cookies for each member....

Of course if you dont want to do the cookies, steak and lobster dinners for all meat eaters would be appreciated.

It may: 1. stay in Introductions and all the posts that do not meet section guidelines will be removed, 2. be moved to Off Topic where just the personal attacks will be removed, 3. additional options.

OsideGirl -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/9/2013 6:40:34 PM)

There two insulting posts in that entire thread....and one was made by the OP. Removing that post basically washes his slate clean instead of others being able to see how he behaves when people give him polite answers that aren't what he wants to hear.

Now if I want to continue posting I have to post in this area while the flame war is going on and a moderator is trying to clean the topic.

Is this what you are proposing?

No....Because a complaint is registered the mod will know two things... The person making the complaint And the person or persons the complaint is against. Both of these posters, or all of them, will temporarily be prohibited from posting to the thread until the Mod can determine the fault and address the remedy. In the mean time those not involved can continue to post. The thread will stay in the "In Moderation" forum until the mods straighten the problem out, because it may still contain some inappropriate posts, then it will be returned to the regular forum. Thus your posts are safe... the discussion can continue and the person deemed at fault will be moderated and the one making the complaint will be able to continue posting if their complaint was valid.

It is a slight inconvenience to the person making the valid complaint... it could be the op...perhaps should be... however if both are not temporarily prohibited from posting until a determination is made then there will be abuse in the form of false complaints. It is a inconvenience I am willing to put up with to allow the thread to continue and not interrupt the flow any more than necessary.

No thread need be locked…no information lost.

Butch

Butch, did you miss my post to you one page back?

kdsub -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/9/2013 7:37:13 PM)

I may have..I'll check

Level -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/9/2013 7:44:14 PM)

One thing I would like to see considered, is the length of moderation.

kdsub -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/9/2013 7:46:21 PM)

So you are saying the software would not support prohibiting someone from posting to a particular thread…is this correct?…Is this true powers that be?

If so…would it be a terrible inconvenience if just the person who the complaint was against would not be allowed to post anywhere on the site until the thread is moderated? Then if the person was making a false complaint they could still be moderated if it proved appropriate…and the person falsely accused would be allowed to continue posting...But in the process all others could continue posting and the meat of the thread would not be lost or the flow significantly disrupted.

That is how the programs I used worked. I could selectively include to a particular area... I could not selectively exclude from that area.

This suggestion says to me, lets place them on immediate moderation and then determine if they did something wrong based upon a complaint?

Yes but keep in mind this is an issued complaint that would be addressed anyway under the present procedures. Now at times the thread is locked and sometimes disappears until the mod can check the entries by the posters involved. The reason for the In Moderation room is there may still be some inappropriate posts still visible but the thread discussion can continue until a judgment is made and the appropriate entries deleted. But no information will be lost or the flow of the thread interrupted.

The whole idea is to keep the threads alive…punish those guilty of breaking tos…with as little interruption as possible.

How so level? I am not sure what you are getting at.

Level -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/9/2013 8:16:26 PM)

Using myself as an example; I got a week off for posting a pic of a kid, unintentionally (having been reminded that to do so is against the rules, several days earlier). To me, a week is a bit much, for an honest mistake.

This isn't a swipe at the mods, btw, just something to consider.

kdsub -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/9/2013 8:23:12 PM)

I do remember that post...was it not pictures of children killed in bombing...pretty graphic? I must admit i was shocked but i think a removal and warning would have been enough. But level i don't know your history with the mods. But i see nothing wrong with a list of violations and the penalties for each. But i do understand the time that would take and how subjective it could be... So no good answers here.

I dont hold with making people responsible based simply upon a complaint without ensuring the complaint is valid.

Beyond that, I think its simpler for them to do as they are now, lock the thread until t hey can review it.

Those who complain about long posts disappearing... and I mean this as no dig to anyone who did complain, I have done the same and lost much information.... its far simpler to simply copy before posting.... if the thread is locked, the info can still be pasted to a word program until the thread is unlocked. I started doing that when we were having so many issues with hitting "Ok" and the system erroring out.

kdsub -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/9/2013 8:27:00 PM)

I'm just throwing out ideas and trying to swing the thread from complaining to problem solving...I sure don't claim to have all the answers either.

Butch

tazzygirl -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/9/2013 8:27:31 PM)

I dont think we will ever have solutions for every problem.

Level -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/9/2013 8:27:32 PM)

I don't remember the first pic's content (the one you described doesn't ring a bell), the onw causing moderation was of a kid on a skateboard. And I apologized for posting it.
