naughtynick81 -> When it comes to feminism, slut shaming is bad, virgin shaming is great! (12/29/2012 8:23:44 PM)

I'm not a virgin thank goodness lol.

But my point is that a lot of the time when a male get's in a debate with feminists or just simply expresses what he disagrees with in regards of feminism, many feminists will be quick to use the "you can't get laid" card. But on the other hand, they are dead against "slut shaming" as it's trying to intimidate a woman by using her sex life against her.

So why is it that slut shaming is a no no but virgin shaming is all so great and acceptable? Could it be solely because men are far more likely than women to not be able to get sex so society doesn't care about the shaming problem in this area, while on the other hand, women are far more likely to achieve a slut status compared to men so therefore there is more sensitivity towards it?

Ya know, if it's only a male problem, what about teh menz.

The victimization culture of today's psychology has done a great disservice to too many people. Somewhere along the way, therapists forgot to teach their patients that the 'right to have your feelings' does not mean the right to act like a raging asshole.

I must be blind. I never see any of this so called shaming that you're talking about.

I'm thinking it's you dude, seeing what you want to see.

What does disagreeing with a feminist have to do with being a virgin or a slut again? I forgot.

I have argued with feminists on many occasions. They have trotted out lots of slanderous stuff. Not one has ever said, "I'll bet you can't get laid.". Usually they call me a misogynist or "the patriarchy". The second of those is my personal favorite.

My experience differs from yours again Nick but I thought I'd add it onto the thread. Honestly, I don't make much of it. My complaint with feminism is not with the drones who can't even construct an argument. They are ignorable.

naughtynick81 -> RE: When it comes to feminism, slut shaming is bad, virgin shaming is great! (12/29/2012 10:14:08 PM)

Well Jeff, over the past 4 years or so that I've argued with feminists over in fetlife, the "haha you can't get laid" response was quite common. Just a few weeks ago one of the most popular feminists in fetlife (I wont name her)...she's usually mod in many feminist groups and is very active in feminist circles, she was claiming that most MRAs are just pissed off at women because they can't get laid.

I've also had many run ins over the years in feminist sites. In particular, a blog named "manboobz" ,as I was more unlikely to get banned, I used to get the "haha you can't get laid" card thrown at me often, even by Mr Manboobz himself. The other feminist sites where I got a very quick banning from, there was always a few comments about my sex life before the thread disappeared.

I don't know what feminist spaces or sites you have been in but I seem to see a man's sex life get shamed often when he is arguing with feminists.

ya know, if you keep getting banned time and again and everyone keeps saying the same things to you time and again, it's not them.....here's a shocker....get ready for it....

it's YOU!!!!

That's like me saying that if the same feminist gets banned from MRA forums for expressing legitimate opinions and the same things from misogynists are said to her time and again, here's a shocker...get ready for it...It's HER!

Why are you trolling feminist forums?
What exactly are your points to make that aren't
being received so well?

Well, I'm not about to disagree with you. Men are slandered in our society in general. That's not exactly news -- it's systemic. And honestly, if you wanted to annoy a male, making fun of his sex life equates to his very masculinity (for a lot of people anyway) so what better target?

My question is, "So what?" What are you doing about it? I totally agree with you there is a problem and frankly I'm more concerned about the legal landscape than I am the social one.

So what? Well here we have feminists (the biggest complainers in the world when it comes to gender issues) complaining about slut shaming because it's sexist. Yet it's all fine and dandy, sugar and spice, within the feminist movement to shame men for being virgins or not getting laid enough. In other words, it's sexist to shame a woman about her sex life but it's magically all the sudden not sexist when feminists shame men about their sex life.

Why should I take feminists seriously when they are shameless hypocrites?

Seriously? In your entire life you've never seen someone insulted for their sexual inexperience? We must live very different lives... Hell, I've seen it here on the forums.

As regards the larger point, while it's never happened to me personally, I definitely do see it happen to others. Even more depressing than the recourse to ad hominem which is the internet's defining feature are the slightly rarer occasions on which I see women accused of being un-feminist for their sexual inexperience, since (apparently) not having had a large number of sexual partners is buying into the patriarchal lie of chastity.

All that being said, railing at this sort of thing is like yelling at a dog for shedding its fur - people who resort to ad hominem, whether this sort or any other, are inherently people who do not work from a logical framework. If they did, they would recognize that they are making fallacious arguments and stop doing it.

Attempting to use logic to convince people who don't use logic to use logic is illogical.

You know, I think it could be a question of style.

I'm sure you have no problem getting laid, but, and I'm sure I'm misreading it horribly, your general tone does sort of scream "This is a person who cannot get laid".

And, I'm gonna requote this...

Because, I really, really, think that you should give this proper consideration.

A feminist in this context being any woman who doesn't get naked and spread her legs as soon as you snap your fingers?

Well stated.

Also, I think some of it is, women tend to respond to those they dislike verbally, while it's more "genetic" for men to want to respond physically. Well, there are laws against physical response (rightfully so), so the verbal responses increase, knowing there isn't going to be a physical response.

Just part of the puzzle, IMO.

LaTigresse -> RE: When it comes to feminism, slut shaming is bad, virgin shaming is great! (12/30/2012 6:41:02 AM)

Personally, I think the whining the OP is doing, and what he is basing it on, is based almost solely on his internet trolling.

I am, in the most pure sense of the word, a feminist. The problem, as I see it, with feminism and any other 'give me equality' political and societal action, is that it is rarely equal or equality driven. It ends up being "We've been victimized forever and now we deserve special treatment because we exist." action. Which I do not believe in.

Men are not 'better' anything simply because they are men. Women are not 'better' anything, simply because they are women. NO ONE is better anything, by shear existence.

More and more I see a mindset of "I deserve respect!" based solely upon existence. It's bullshit. You want respect, equality, whatever else, behave in a manner that earns/deserves it. Then I will be right there beside you, fighting for you to have the right to own that shit. But until then, get the fuck outta my way and quit your god damned whining.

As for the slut and virgin shit........well yanno, what I see as deserving respect has nothing at all to do with what a person does, or does not do, in their bedroom. Moreso how they represent it and conduct themselves otherwise.

Thank you.

And may I point out the second clause in the OP's topic title and the first sentence of his post?

Perhaps he needs new cookware.

A slut will screw anyone.
A feminist will screw anyone but him?
