ORIGINAL: jlf1961 I know that the pope when he was a bishop moved priests that were accused of child molestation. It has come out that many bishops in the United States did the same thing. Pope Benidict should have been dealt with at the time, but yes he is immune from prosecution. However the bishops, arch bishops and priests are not immune from prosecution, so who exactly do you want to arrest and hold for trial? The ones doing it now, or the guy that did it years ago? I wanted to know how someone could stand to knowingly support an organization controlled by that sort of evil, that's why I asked the question. I support the church because, albeit at a snail's pace, changes are being made. Lets face it, we are talking about a 1300 hundred year old institution here. By the same token, why do we continue to support the US government considering some of the covert operations conducted at the behest of the Government that were against International law in the name of "National Security?" Or to put it another way, if all the stuff that Reagan had done, under the control of the CIA and the Pentagon special operations command were to become public knowledge, I would bet there would even be some devoutly conservative people demanding he be dug up and hung. Maybe you might research political prisoners held by the United States.
