cmon Nos, you know foood is MUCH less important than guns

Give a man a fish he has food for a day.
Teach a man to fish he has food for a lifetime.

Teach him??? how by cutting off his only real chance at a decent diet, by weakening the rod, cotton as line, no hook and destroy all the fish???
high unemployment, minimum wage unless he has skills? no jobs, 1 chance in a thousand of getting into retraining? spit on him, de humanize him???
oh its sooo simple ....huh?

That saying has been around a long time but I never thought it was to be taken literaly. I always thought it meant you should teach someone to take care of themself instead of taking care of him. Things like training him for a job or sending him to school to learn a trade.

Oh dear did you even read what I said? If you think reducing food stamps forces people to teach themselves how to fish..in a polluted environment with lousy tools and condemnation...... you are beyond help

And I took Lucy's post to mean that while the saying is as you say, boi, the reality is no one wants to see him pull himself up from the bottom if it means they have to put something out to do so.

Thankyou :)

Maybe you should work on your wording then. I am guessing if someone had replied in the same way to one of your posts, you would have thought the same thing I did.

I know what I said and I stand by it.
Chalk it up to being over sensitive and get over it

Basic U.S. Education 101 from around second grade:

Food Stamps ARE a benefit to the populace provided for by taxpayers.

Owning a gun is a Constitutional Right.

When they wrote the words "General Welfare" in the Constitution, they meant things like the post office, taxation without representation, etc. General Welfare for all the people-not just some. If they wanted people to get free food stamps, they would have written "General Food Stamps."

If the constitution is changed to guns being a "beneift" then I'm happy to take a drug test in order to keep my weapon that I legally own and have a permit for. If that happens, you can expect other laws to immediately follow requiring anyone who receives any benefit provided by tax dollars to take one. This includes people using our educational system. People who get HIV and need free healthcare and medicine for life. People who use Planned Parenthood as a form of birth control. People who have mail delivered at their house. People who have clean water piped to their house. People who drive on roads or take buses. A stoner walking home who gets hit by a drunk driver...both need medical care that is usually paid for by tax dollars in the end. The list is endless of what the taxpayers pay towards benefits for the populace at large.

Since food stamps are mailed out every month by the government, I also expect to have the same benefits provided to me and other legal handgun owners, which equates to free money coming our way monthly to specifically purchase weapons. Fair is fair.

Do you still think guns are a benefit? If so, why not just, you know, change free speech to a "benefit" also? We'll all just have to take a drug test in order to speak freely. Sure. Why not.
