You're actual question was, "How do you handle it?"

How I handle it is by actually handling it. I put the criminal behind bars where they belong rather than passing the problem on to the next person. Fury is fun but I prefer actual results. My reaction is akin to what I'd do if someone robbed my house and I happened to know who did it. Sure I might buy better locks and/or an alarm system. But his happy ass would be in jail so that he wasn't robbing the next house.

What I don't fully understand in your reaction is that you were furious but you don't seem to recognize the criminal aspect of this or give it any weight. I very definitely do.

Personally furious isn't quite the same for me as...having the guy arrested for pulling my hair. It's happened two or three times with different people, and it's happened to other unattached subs I know, I don't think it rises to the level of "I know you're patrolling the streets for burglars and rapists, but this guy thinks he can top me when he feels like it, because I don't currently wear a collar." I've certainly contacted the police for other things, but they're there for an emergency, My opinion.

I can't help but feel bad for this guy's wife. I certainly wouldn't continue to be friends with her either. They may have an open relationship and he may be the dominant, but she doesn't look too good when her husband is running around grabbing people without permission.

Everyone always talks about how an s-type is a reflection of the d-type. Seems to me that should go both ways...

That's an important point. I don't seek her out anymore socially. And that's a shame, because she's a sweet lady. Interesting, she also doesn't take shit off anybody...INCLUDING him.

That'd be the nature of our different viewpoint. I happen to think the legal landscape in this area is pretty good. So I see his action not as "Someone thinking they can top an unwilling/unowned sub" but rather "assault & battery". So of course our responses vary. If I saw it the way you did I'd be handling it personally also.

Maybe a more Canadian approach? <grin>
I have a friend in BC, and her and my politics are vastly different, but we're friends even if we each think the other is insane. All our friends tease her about Canadians being so exceptionally well mannered and just....nice. I just sent her the neatest meme. Wonder if you've seen it--says "Canadian bathroom graffiti at its finest." And in neat printing, it says on the wall, "Your mom is a nice lady."

if it is happening to you and to other unattached subs, it seems the people hosting these gatherings needs to take time at the beginning to make 100% clear these rules, because somehow these people don't get sociability at all.

Either that or these so called 'doms' need to be left with a few broken bones in an ally until they get these ideas.

i do agree with the above poster in that it will drive away female subs, and that will drive away everyone else as well.

i just can't imagine this. maybe if these subs were taught basic self defense, like wrist locks and the like, this would stop cold. Being publicly humiliated usually stops misbehaving.

Have the hosts been informed more than once (by any combination of people)? Maybe it's time to find a new gathering place or group?
