I love that acronym. It's probably harder to type out correctly than the sentence it stands for, it's certainly harder to read, and for some reason it just amuses me every time I use it. XD

I'm a huge gramar nazi too. In my opinion I think people should write things the way their English teachers taught them to... Regardless of being dominant or submissive.

Mind you, it's merely one in a list of many. So while it raises an eyebrow, I really couldn't be fucked expending energy over it.

It's like reading poetry. Makes me all tingly.

I try to cap nouns, whereas dominance and submission are verbs, or adverbs or something, but when I'm are referring to a dominant or a submissive I'm using it more like noun, and I capitalize both.

I'm not consistent with it, but that's vaguely my approach I think.

I'm not a grammer nazi obviously, the goal of communication, written or otherwise is... communication - so if I can grok what you're saying I don't sweat the details unless I think you would benefit, like telling somebody their fly is open or that mute is spelled moot.

Txtspk I think would probably come in handy on a phone with that tiny keypad, I can barely type on a keyboard, but I think if you have one you should take advantage of it.

Here's the thing that bothers me most about it. When it is the "youngsters" here (under 30 crowd), they have always been exposed to computers, and most of them know how to type. So using text speak and poor grammar, punctuation and shit is nothing more than laziness. I know that many people here are dyslexic, but most of them post more clearly written out messages than the "kids." I also think that a lot of those who have been called on their poor written communication claim dyslexia so that people will pity them and leave them alone.

I have zero issue with the capitalization of dominant, etc. or the way LP writes. It is the slashy speak that is absolutely ridiculous, and it often makes a post so difficult to read that I won't even bother, but just skip over it.

I/is I/it J/j/JUUU/just Me or is all this sort of thing a little bit irritating?
As much as I appreciate that people may extend their own ideas of protocol into their written communications, and maybe some other people may be flattered that someone would communicate that way, personally it pisses me off!

My idea of the written word on the internet is it should convey the same feeling and intent as it would if said in person. In my opinion if you went around saying stuff like "y/You" to strangers they'd probably assume you had an impediment. Or that you'd just consumed a gram of speed. Neither of which they would likely find appealing.

Much love

I agree with you, that its (pissing?) annoying. Smirking at the pissing part. All of it doesn't bother me.
As said above

This is the precise way I feel about it. Once I am communicating with someone, and am maybe looking to meet him/her, the capitalization of my name, and lower casing of his, has happened with me. M

Am I being a grammar nazi? Am I being intolerant of other peoples fetish in creative punctuation? Or is it just pissing annoying?

Much love

Some people like to use C/caps to demonstrate Dominance and submission. Not many in my experience. To each his own.

Bottom line: I wouldn't call you a grammar nazi. I'd just call you one of the long list of people who want everybody else to think and act like you do, and you're annoyed that a lot don't.

ClassAct2006 -> RE: Random capitalisation of letters. An open statement with minor rant content. (2/22/2013 2:01:19 AM)

It certainly indicates to me how well educated someone is. If they are writing a sentence like - I saw the Dog and capitalise dog and random words which in English do not have capitals you know they are not very well educated and probably not the right person for me. It tends then to mean they do not speak very well, are not well educated, usually not similar sort of job or earnings to mine and a huge range of other things are not therefore compatible. If it just meant they had not been taught spelling and grammar very well it would be neither here nor there. It is the way that it almost always indicates huge differences that counts. Some differences do not matter. Huge differences are much harder particularly if you want to look up to am an who is better than you are, respect him and do what he says. Hard to do that if he is worse than you are at just about everything.
