Status: offline 		Gee, why would anyone think that a picture of a perfect looking 18  year old with long legs and surgically enhanced breasts would be a fake? Maybe if the op would focus on the words in the profile instead of the more outward characteristics, he could find someone real. Not model perfect, but then again at nearly 40, neither is he.

you walk into any busy urban bar ... there will be a mix of people, maybe 5% of whom are a viable match, .. in order to get to that 5% .. you have to wade through the other 95%

you wouldn't bitch and whine and complain in a bar that every girl you tried and failed to chat up was a low down dirty fake

or maybe you would ... maybe its the same mentality that responds to rejection with "Well you must be a lesbian then"

Agree wholeheartedly 100%, but I'm more of a cynic. I believe that a bar will have that wonderful 5% about 25% of the time, making your chances really at about... 1.3% or never. So sometimes you have to wade through everyone and will come up empty handed. Meeting the right person is a lot about persistance and dumb luck.

Ok I realize that this is a 2 year old thread but I had to address this one--often, males will have a submissive and a Dominant profile--its called the secure or procure methodology-- one way or the other they are going to get a woman---this came far too close to home when an alleged slave was living here and on trial--one of My frienda discovered his Dominant profile,  (A) it existed and (B) it was still very active---he was on the train so fast, the wood branded his ass!

Basics for me include --

my gut instinct with first encounter (email or whatever)
I've learned to trust my gut

I ask about local events, meetings, play spaces -- they are usually my best bet to find out if someone is really out there in the community, which might not mean they are a good person, or right for me, but at least they have been out in the RT scene, locally

I might even check on people if its appropriate to ask specifics about names (usually not, this might come later)

if I continue contact with someone, consistency is a big deal -- if you say something that doesn't jive with your profile, I'll call you on it...

for me, online experience is NOT the kind of experience I am looking for, for example

I will also ask specifics about experiences:  how long, public, how did you learn... who did you learn from...

I didn't read the other advice, but I'm sure there has been some good advice

again, I go back to.. my gut instinct, I have learned (although sometimes my hormones get in the way) to trust my gut instincts and act accordingly, they are rarely in the end wrong

I have two CM profiles.  I realized I had to, because the "role" section did not include something that captured who I am, or who I am looking for. My Alt profile says "Role: Not Applicable."  I have never been interested in "procuring."  However, I realized that the vast majority of women I was talking to had different definitions for "Dom," "sub," etc.  Just think how often threads get started about "What do these words mean anyway?" and the resounding answer is, "Whatever they mean to you."  I want someone to HAVE TO ASK ME, instead of making assumptions based on terms in a profile.

To avoid any further confusion, I'm putting this up again the way it should have been the first time.  Dang edit option was gone too quickly.

My only comment in this was about the thread being called up again after eighteen months from the last post to it. 

Just a side note, RedMagic, I avoid profiles on alt with role not applicable like the plague.

Trick Number 1
Read the profiles.

Trick number 2
If they are 20 a knock out and want to go imeadeatly to your yahoo account and cam with you.

Trick 3
If they never read your profile and want to go to your yahoo account to cam.

Very close, but not quite.  It would have been more on the mark if you had said that I added someone to something that I already built.  No offense taken, or anything like that.  I just happen to be on the misconception road today.
